We just filled up ping pong balls with shotgun powder and stuck a fuse in it. It wasn't black powder, so no explosion, but it made a nice ball of fire...

another fun thing was to take an 8 to 10" piece of copper tubing hammer down one end to about an inch to the end then place the flattened end into the dirt or lawn between 2 really close houses and drop a lit fire cracker into it and run like hell , the confined explosion amplified the concusion and it would rattle windows and sound like a gun shot

it's a miracle I've never been to jail, and .........kids dont think we ever had fun

What a walk down memory lane. I love it!
I’ve had just about everything mentioned here as a toy.
Anybody have a Hydro Dynamic (or something like that) building set? Lincoln logs, erector sets, or other things to exercise your mind and imagination on days the weather didn’t cooperate for outdoor fun?

What about superballs? Saw a kid knocked unconscious by one. Never saw it coming and he took a shot to the forehead. He dropped like a sack of potatoes. He recovered and after a couple of days came back to school. The goose egg sized knot on his bruised forehead and the fact he was laid completely out made him sort of a hero.

Which brings up another question: was anybody here able to make a battery explode in a fire?

I've tried and I tried, but no satisfaction. Mainly putting batteries in a metal can stuffed with paper and lighter fluid or other flammable liquid. It burned but never exploded.

I had y’all beat. In 8th grade I had a girl, a real one, to get in trouble with.:lol:

Understand that there's a big difference between 8th grade getting in trouble and prom night getting in trouble. ;)

We had homemade slingshots too. We would also throw black walnuts at each other. If you took one of those in the head you felt it. :)

^^ Your second vid... I, or a neighbor kid, had every one of these at one point or another. Except for the Johnny Seven gun. But all those others, yep. The Easy Bake oven never seemed to work... took forever to cook something, and you got two bites for an hour of effort. Not the most dangerous of the bunch. I definitely burned a finger or two with the creepy crawly thing maker. And that psychedelic super elastic bubble plastic stuff? Highly volatile... you couldn't *not* inhale those fumes. But it was no worse than the Testors styrene cement I used to make my model dinosaurs and planes...
