We are not booked to play to play Cinco De Mayo,
but we are booked for May 4th, (the star wars holiday). So maybe we should have a few songs to go with the 5th. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Guacamole, also by Texas Tornados

Both this and Que Paso are super easy, just 3 chords each

I can tab some simple licks that I play, just let me know

    Cheers,
    Doug

I would look into the Los Lobos catalogue. Great stuff. Or, is that inappropriate that I said that? Was trying to be sincere actually. I really like LL sound. Ok, LL is great anytime of year.

If we don’t get a Cinco gig then we have our own party.

We always do. I’ve Got Mexico - Eddie Raven and She Always Talked About Mexico - DAVID Ball.

Plus any song mentioning Margaritas or Tequila.

Thanks all. We should be able to pick up a few of them.

I was going to ask for the tabs, but that seems a lot to ask. But it made my realize I need to work on my Que Paso lead. I’m inspired and working on it. Thanks.

I wouldn't overthink Cinco de Mayo too much as far as Songlist, as long as you keep it upbeat, party music

La Bamba, The Los Lobos tunes we normally play, surf, always work with us

Someone needs to write a tune about the humble taco bowl!

You have to do this. Glad I don’t have to learn it.

Here's a starter for Que Paso. You can play the repeating notes with more or less, depending on how you pick it. Think a fast staccato attack, trying to mimic the accordion. Just using this basic pattern, you can mix it up pretty well, e.g. instead of playing more straight like I've tabbed, substitute triplets for single notes.

In key of D, play this over the chorus chords of A and D

    Code:
    e -----------------|--------------------------------
    B --7-777-7777-8---|-------------7------------------
    G ---------------9-|--9-999-9999----7---------------
    D -----------------|--------------------------------
    A -----------------|--------------------------------
    E -----------------|--------------------------------

    e -----------------|--------------------------------
    B --7-777-7777-8---|--10--10-10-10--10-8-7----------
    G ---------------9-|-----------------------9-7------
    D -----------------|--------------------------------
    A -----------------|--------------------------------
    E -----------------|--------------------------------

    Cheers,
    Doug

Thanks I tried it, that would have worked, but I’m already 75% done on something. You know, hard enough that I’ll screw it up playing it live at a gig. It didn’t seem to bad till I realized I was playing at 3/4 speed.
