    Hello Tele-Fellas from Germany :)

after a lot of google'ing I'm more and more confused.
I bought a used Shiflett Tele Deluxe as a backup for live.
The Guitar is great but I don't feel like at home with my Jim Root Tele.

After a bit of chating I found out, that Fender uses two different string spacings. :-/
And I'm kinda sure that it's the fact I don't like. All my other guitars have the modern spacing.

Did I mention that it isn't that easy to get a conversion hardtail?!
Modern Fender Hardtails don't match in terms of mounting & position as I read.

The only thing that looks ok to me is the Hipshot Hardtail with modern Spacing.
Can anyone confirm that this matches vintage mounting holes and works as a conversion?
It's not that easy 'cause in Germany we calculate in metric sizes not inches. So one more issue to confuse me. :D

Hipshot isn't that easy to get in Germany. So I have to order in the States.
Would be great to have an alternative.

    Thanks, Markus.

Welcome, hogan. I went to that linked site. They offer that bridge in two different spacings....
2 1/8"(modern) and 2 1/4"(vintage). I did not go to the 'dimensions'....link. Check it out, make measurements of the bridges on the guitars that you like and don't like....compare.
Fwiw, there may be other differences such as fingerboard radius being a major thing, ime.

Fender uses 3 string spacings, narrow modern 52mm, vintage Tele 54mm and vintage Strat 56mm. There are exceptions, as always.

Your Chris Shiflett has a Sung Il BN005 bridge with 54mm string spacing.

The Fender (not Squier) Jim Root uses a black version of the American Standard hardtail bridge which has narrow 52mm spacing.
The chrome version is Fender part number 0032909000, Thomann item number 114488, price €77 https://www.thomann.de/de/fender_hardtail_bridge_chrome.htm

The Fender hardtail should fit the Chris Shiflett with a slight modification to the string through holes.

Die the mod a few days ago. Works like a charm :)
Had to redo 2 screwholes, but the string through holes aligned perfectly.
    Thanks @Tuxedo Poly

With the stock chrome humbucker it looks even better.
