Anyone up for listening to a cover of San Antonio Rose on my 6120?
Chet was a great guitarist. One of the first guitar players I listened to in my youth. Beautifully played and thanks for the memories Mr Astro!
Thank you Alan - yes he was as cool as cucumber. Often imitated - never equalled!!!
Great job, as usual!
Really great, love it.
Great job! Always liked that song.
Great playing Mr Astro and you have my dream guitar- an orange Gretsch 6120. You do it justice.
Thank you very much for the encouragement @Tonetele , @DonM ,@Rythameen, @Harry Styron and @Alan L Cole. I really appreciate it!
Nice rendition there!
Got me inspired to go YouTubing around and look at some more-
I think I liked pretty much every one.
If ya got a Chet style guitar, and you were inspired by him... you just tend to learn some chops and play with taste -like him!
It's a wonderful song, and that style picking is beautiful.
Thanks for posting!
Ya done good buddy..Thanks for sharing that..
Always nice to hear some good Chet.
Thanks heaps fellas! Appreciate it - made my day!
I enjoy all your covers of a good finger picker like Chet.
I was working on that style for about 6-7 years when my health went south.
Tommy Emmanuel was what really inspired me, you can throw some of his covers in if you like.
My guess is you may have heard of him
Sorry to hear about your health - the reason I'm not working anymore is I have had a few problems myself - but nothing that affects my picking. Keep your chin up!.
Re: Tommy yes he is a force of nature. I've seen him several times in the 80's and 90's live in Sydney where I live. He is in his own league. Re: Chet all I can do is restate what I said earlier in this thread. Often imitated - never equalled Chet of course was Tommy's hero.
Love that kind of music, but like Chet did to me when I was young and learning in the 50's, you make me want to just give it up (after 60 years of playing).
Thanks @howardlo - it doesn't come naturally to me honestly I have to play these things 100's and in truth probably thousands of times before I get them sort of in ballpark and even then all I can hear is mistakes.
Very well done!
Thank you fellas - too kind!
