Just had this one all apart just for giggles.
Homemade pick guard and polish the top and headstock to make it shine like God intended.
Ran the buffing wheel along the frets to make them nice and smooth.
Added the tuners because I had them around.
Couldn't resist a little fake arm wear to make her look like she's been around the block a little more than she has.
Had a Duncan P90 around but it didn't fit in the hole, so the pickups are stock.
This one is a joy to play and could easily be a #1 gigger.
    Best $99 I ever spent.

That's a real beauty. Always wanted to try one of their p90 models but never have.

Sweet! That is such a great basic, no frills guitar. Working musician's guitar. You did very well.

If you want to improve the stock pickups StewMac sells both A2 and A5 slugs that fit

Nice job on the pick guard. Previous owner removed the factory guard?

Excellent. I've been thinking about one of these for a long time. You did exactly what I had envisioned.

Dang. Now I have a bunch of GAS all of a sudden.

I like my red one. It was on sale last year for 99 so I couldn't resist buying one more thing I didn't need.

Bolt on neck, single coil pickups, 1 tone, 1 volume...
I even oriented my switch to work fore and aft like a you-know-what!

Aw! you did a nu un with it all assembled, nice touch.
So far I don't find no fault on the PU's on mine, but on the other hand they are my first p-90's--so I have no other reference to compare to. I think every GP needs one of these, just SOP! Think you and the cheap date might be going steady? Platefire

BTW---got dim Keystone Classics on mine also, just love um

I have, and have had, many P90s...currently an ES330, ES225 and Firebird III.
I find the Epi ones to compare favorably.
I brought it to rehearsal last night...it was student model guitar night...the Epi and a '55 Kay.
    Great fun.
A couple new guys in the band who've never seen the Epi.
They were totally shocked when I told them I got it for $99 from Musicians Friend.
    Are ceramic magnets always black?
The ones in these pickups have some sort of bright plating...that basic, industrial stuff that's kind of yellow/orange.

No ceramic and alnico can be finished in paint or coatings. Alnico is bright alloy usually if not painted but can be dull grey. The StewMac ones are bright and A2 are inked red.

Uhmmmm, can I join the club for $15?
    I put a $7 pickup in it (16k), split it with a $5 push/pull, a fret level, setup, $5 new strings, $5 knobs.
Gets played more often than significantly pricier guitars. Just a whole lot of fun, this one.
