Thanks for all the ideas. I've been looking at the Behringer. One issue is it only goes to 300ms where most go to 600ms. Not sure of that's an issue though since I've never used a delay

I have a Dan BLT slap back delay I like really well too. Have had it at least 20 years.

At the moment I'm thinking it would mostly be used for slapback and some longer timed single repeats...kind of like in ZZ Tops "I Need You Tonight." Also, I read that digital is better for higher gain music, that true? Also, this is for home use only, I'm not in a band and don't gig.

Donner Yellow Fall is bare bones but sounds amazing for the price. I’ll often use it instead of my Memory Boy if I don’t need the features of that.

Another vote for the Donner Yellow Fall Delay, got mine with a £10 eBay code I was sent, best £13 ever spent.

I want to make sure I get a delay that gets me near what I want, but have zero experience beyond the delay built into my Blackstar Fly 3 amp. Is 600ms enough to get the effect below? Thanks

I have a Donner Yellow Fall and it's perfectly fine. Also have a Rogue analog delay which is also good. Got each for around $20 used.

$89 new - you can find them used for $55. It's the EH version of an MXR Carbon Copy. They're really nice.

The Joyo Digital Delay sounds warm.....sounds analog. $32 on Amazon or eBay (new).

I have both of these. Both sound great. Easy on the wallet.

Joyo/donner, whatever else the metal box chinese pedals are called - I've had many that I've liked.

Used boss pedals that aren't waza (like blues driver, super overdrive, etc). Someone sold me a cmatmods brownie last year for about $50 (used, just the pedal, nothing with it) and it's pure magic with a peavey classic 4x10.

When I was younger, I bought some cheap pedals and some expensive ones. The cheap ones were DOD, and a lot of those were BAD (think almost 30 years ago now), but I was poor and didn't want to pay for boss pedals. Now, I can't really see the reason to buy most of the expensive pedals - especially when a lot are already minor variations on an established pedal (think klon, etc).

On the off chance that I start going on a pedal binge, I remind myself that it's probably because I haven't been playing enough lately, or trying to learn enough new stuff. for some reason, that doesn't stop the guitar buying, but it does prevent pedal and amp buying.

The behringer stuff has been mentioned,
But I have the echo machine, and it’s pretty nice actually.
It wouldnt survive long under abuse, but it’s actually of fairly sturdy build.
It’s a bit of a Swiss army delay pedal,
    Does a lot.

I used to have a line 6 echo park, and this is a clone of it.

For simple home or studio use it’s fine.
The plastic danelectro pedals are flimsier,
And I’ve had a dano French toast fuzz just kind of laying around amongst my amps and stuff for about 10 years,
    Still works fine.

    Check out Tomsline pedals
I picked up a Greener(tube screamer) and it’s a rugged Nano pedal with a lot of adjustment
Brand new it cost me $40
I’ve had one of the EQ pedals for a while and like them both
I’m sure there delay is as good a quality
