IMG_20170923_221303146.jpg the license plate is temporary...256k volume pot, 160k tone pot with .22 orange drop cap, gold alumitones. Had to use an lp style three way switch because the body is too thin for the blade switches I have. Blackie will be getting on/off mini toggles for each pickup. I'm thinking two humbuckers and a tele neck pickup. Treble bleed circuit as well.

Nice wood. Why'd you install the string tree backwards and so close to the nut? Curious.

This is a fun guitar to play, and almost as light as the USA Reverend i modeled it after

Personally, I'd say leave the license plate. I really dig it. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, maybe. I'll reshape the edge so it follows the pickguard and see if I like the result.

If I DON'T like the results, I'll replace the body. I found this lumber in my attic and sanded it down. This will either get a cedar top or something fancier. It smells like pine when cut, it's at least 40 years old

    Totally agree! :D

I like the number plate control panel. Gives it a cool look.

Started routing the neck pocket on blackie. It's going to be quite deep in the body compared to a normal tele, probably at the 15/16 fret IMG_20170927_064344934.jpg IMG_20170927_065053178.jpg

Maybe I'm crazy or dumb, but I'm not seeing how blackie is ruined...?

If you mean the kind of splotchy part running down the center stripe, I'm digging it. It's unique and has character and it really doesn't look bad. Then again I'm a big fan of the concept of finding perfection in imperfection. Although I'm not sure that guitar is "blackie" either, because I remember it being solid black in other pictures. Yeah?

Oh I left out the pics of the Freddy Kruger rout job I did on the pickups. So the planks making up the body don't have a vertical orientation. They run about 15 egrees off axis, to the left. I should have paused and picked it back up in the morning but I was excited about how it was turning out. I totally butchered the pickup route. IMG_20170928_020115721.jpg it's a damn shame, I was going to call it vertigo. I went with the angle of the wood for the step down on the sides, it looked so wrong, I loved it.

That's a shame. Maybe someone will have a thought on how to salvage. I wish I did.

I've seen some people Frankenstein a guitar together with wood I didn't even think was worth the fire place, much less a guitar with hole, cracks, being split in two, etc.

Was thinking a contoured pickguard... With hex head screws. At any rate I'm running out of pickups to put in projects! Maybe I'll make a little acoustic next...

If you do an acoustic next you should find a classical guitar on the cheap and transform it into something like a Cuban tres so I can just copy your build. :)
