Love jarrah. I use it for fretboards as well, although I have made a jarrah topped lester and a jarrah top semi hollow electric ukulele

Got home from work early today; you know what that means! Into the man cave.........
I decided that the colour I sprayed yesterday looked too anaemic so I blew some more colour to the neck and more 'burst to the top. Much happier now. The top does look better than in the photo. I'm done with the colour now..........I think!
Time to start messing with designs for a pick guard, though I may not install it. I'll be using jarrah for that, it'll sit nicely with the fretboard.
I like the smaller guards pioneered by D'Aquisto etc, though I'm not really a fan of PGs.

While I really don't want to go down the lacquer rabbit hole I am seriously considering an airbrush for tints. There...now look what you did. :)

I have an airbrush but have never used it. I use the small 'Star' HVLP gun. It works well for me.
I originally had a cheapo gun from an low cost store but when it dripped onto to the final coat of my Les Paul it bit the hand and was binned. The Star is nice to use. About $200 over here but probably half that where you are. I think it was money well spent.

I kept going back to the sunburst.........and adding a bit more colour......until it was exactly not at all like what I originally had in mind. o_O
I decided that the faint 'burst was just too, well....faint.
But that's where it stops; I'm spraying clear coats from now on. Only 1 or 2 more clear coats then let it all cure for about a month, depending on the weather, then onto the final buffing.
Still trying to settle on a pick guard design, the smaller the better! And maybe a new BRW bridge base.

Body and soul connected! Neck glued in place.
I got a lot of lacquer seep under the masking tape on the fretboard, so a bit of cleaning up to do. Normally I mask with the ordinary cream tape but this time I used green Frog Tape which supposedly has a good tight edge. I did apply it the way I normally do. I'll use the cream stuff next time.

I just had to do another bridge base. I kept giving the maple one a sideways glance......sort of 'I don't want to embarrass you, but I just don't like you'.......
This one is Brazilian rosewood. I obviously haven't fitted the studs and wheels yet. I'll let the lacquer cure for a while first.
Yep, much happier with this one now.
