Haven't dragged it out in a while. I rarely do because the case is so huge it's just a PITA to deal with. I really need a V shaped case or a gig bag. The giant rectangular thing barely fits in a vehicle.

Every time I take it out though, I'm reminded of just how awesome it is. If it were easier to transport, I'd play it a LOT more often.

It's a CGC. Made just for me in Lakewood, OH.

    Mahogany body and set neck.

    Spruce top.

Super thick and chunky rosewood fretboard.

    Jumbo frets.

Babicz "Full Contact" bridge and tailpiece.

    Locking Grover tuners.

    Bone nut.

SD JB Bridge, DiMarzio Air Classic neck.

Single volume control and a three way toggle.

I'm gonna use it on my Grateful Dead gig this weekend. It gets some killer Garcia/Kimmock style sounds.

Very nice, bet it sounds great!

A V was my dream guitar in my younger
years. Never would spend the money for
the Gibson. I finally inherited my grandpa's guitars. One of them was a Japanese hollow body electric that had
Decintgrated in the case. Well I decided to take the neck and hardware and make
A V. After I built it I realized the only comfortable way to hold it was strapped
    on in a rock n roll stance:>}

So I never got my dream V, but glad you did! Platefire

    feelin' Albert King are we

I get it, there's time to wail

do you "de-tune"? I like tuning down a whole step

sometimes you just have to raise the black flag and let everyone know how you really feel

    respect, dog

    always

A Gibson V was my main guitar for years. I put in some SD JB and Jazz with push/pulls to split the humbuckers and another one to put them out of phase. It was a 70's rock machine and I loved it, but it didn't fit in with my new band. As for playing sitting down which is always people's main complaint. I always split the V with my right leg and played it the way you would play a classical guitar. Always worked fine. Yours looks rad man. I love the headstock. Cheers.

The mighty Davison; its actually pretty nice for a budget/bolt on , this would have been a $300 guitar BITD, It was basically free as it was included w/ a 1x12 combo..(or the amp was free..or they were both very cheap; guess it depends on how you look at it) I have no case or bag, I was intending to sell it but it's growing on me. It sort of fits in a Dred bag, but I guess that might not be the place for a commissioned ax. I may end up paying more for the bag than the V..

this is as close as I got to a V, I made this puppy out of oak - Maple neck with an Ebony fretboard, Reflex red dots P/U 12/6/0 Db preamp and a GK3 for those special occasions where my guitar doent sound enough like a piano.

    close but not the same!

I have a Gibson faded V. Put PAF strength humbuckers in it and it's mahvelous. I bust it out maybe every 5th gig and it always draws attention.

My #1 is a Epi JB Firebird I but my Epi 58 Flying V gets more play and is a very close second! Just something about a V that fits my style!

In reference to Post# 4, the V I build out of spare parts from my Grandpa's destroyed Japanese hollow-body that I made in the 70's, still got it and this is what it looks like. It may qualify as steam punk V???

I don't de-tune. Or get high gain with it. I love using it for jam band stuff. It sweet for that.

Also killer for slide, though I don't play much slide, or play it very well at all. But the access to the upper register is totally unrestricted. It's a great axe.

Hot damn you're kidding me! I've been mulling over a V the past couple weeks, just can't get it out of my head. Yeah, Albert King, and then a clip of GE Smith playing some King type stuff...but to my ears they're a hip kind of sound beyond that. I haven't played many V's but I used to have access to a few really close oblong "THC" (Tom Holmes Company) guitars that were made in the 70's or early 80's in Germany I believe with crazy pickups, glorious guitars.

You're putting me over the edge on the V purchase here, I might have to pull the trigger.
