It's not worth that price when the Buck Owens Crystal Palace Country Store sells them for $1950. On the used market you could probably find one for a lot less.

Be aware there are two versions. One with a Limited Edition neck plate and a shiny brass 8-hole pickguard. The other with a plain neck plate and a brushed brass 5-hole pickguard.

Here's one that's currently on eBay but it's not the Limited Edition model as the title says.

Here's what the Limited Edition looks like.

Maybe we should run up to Santa Fe and take a look.

Damnit...I used to live in Albuquerque,,once off Central and another time off Coors in a little Canyon area...I miss the desert, anyway ...let's say you found one for $1500 and compare it to building one yourself. It would be tough to find somebody to sparkle one up nicley..Buckocaster51 does a mean sparkle, but I bet he is real busy, could be a waiting time there..or you could see how he does it on the "Son of Melloncaster" thread, and see how much you think something like that is worth or give it a shot yourself(the masters make it look easier than it is!). But if I had the extra dough, I wouldn't mind grabbing one myself...I mean..it's such an iconic American thing-- Fender Telecaster, Flag, Country Music and Buck Owens..You could probably load it with all the stuff you want(pickups, wiring, neck type etc)...but I'd want one to Buck's specs,,the guitar he played, plus any of the case candy that comes with one (if there is any)..Just a ramblin' here... innarestin'.

I'm sorry but that guitar is hideous! Those are MIJ, no? Kknd of ironic given the color scheme.

got mine on sale, it had been hanging in the shop for a long time. One day I was playing it unplugged outdoors and 3 Japanese boys...about 10 or so years old I guess...came over on their bikes to tell me how cool the guitar looked.
Ironic?... if you spent some time in Japan you`d see just how infatuated the people are with all things American, seemed fitting to me that they`d come up with a model for Buck.
Say what you will about the looks, mine sounds fantastic.

We are talking about a guitar that reflects the persona and style of a man who wore suits of lights! and basically brought sparklecasters into the fore of tele consciousness. What do you want? An all wood grain guitar, while 'nice' would not have been representative of Buck Owens musical path...and the Japanese are real sticklers for details , when it comes to Americana they love, and aren't afraid to go gaudy...One of Buck's great recordings(and Album covers!).....

I coulda bought one 10 years ago for $650. Have they became collectible now? Im a big buck fan but Im a less is more kinda guy. If it were a silver sparkle I woulda popped on it but red white and blue with the gold was pretty wild lookin LOL. It woulda looked cool as a display though. I kinda wish I woulda bought it just to put away just in case because it had a limited edition plate on it and I knew he wouldnt live forever.

I'm with you there twangplank...I play a black and white tele, so I'm not exactly gaudy myself...but a silver or champagne sparkle is something I wouldn't hesitate on either, if it played well..and if not,,,it can be made to play well! haha! But being a big Buck fan, this might have been an exception to my lack of color-assertiveness ... just imagine the ability to blind front-of-stagers!

Paging Buckocaster51 to thread, repeat, paging Buckocaster51 to thread... :D
They look great, I had no idea that they existed either. I'm not the biggest fan of Buck Owens but I like his music and the guitar is VERY nice. Nice find!

Man, that is very cool to see...a young guy from the UK that is even aware of Buck Owens is pretty amazing, let alone admit to liking his music...twang on, brother...

I think Buckocaster has already done one with plain red, white and blue paint. If anyone wants to build and paint one in sparkles, they were done with all silver sparkles. The the blue and red sections were sprayed with transparent colors.

IF I had the guitar in my hand and it played as good as it looks (to me), and the cash in my pocket I would own that guitar in a heartbeat.
