I have a 72 Reissue Tele Thinline with a regular single coil Tele bridge pickup.
Any ideas on what pickup sounds best in these. I am looking for a slightly hot Tele twang.

I can definitely recommend the CV 50's Alnico III bridge pup. They run right around 9k, and can twang or rock. A versatile, good sounding pickup that can be had for cheap!

As 'Elcheapo' said of the CV pup...also, the GFS Hot 63 bridge pup (7k)..

Have you tried adjusting the height of your bridge pup for a more desirable sound ?

Several great choices available.. good luck in your search. Here's a couple videos of my hot 63 Bridge pup in action.

Big fan of Alnico II pickups in thinlines, so Duncan Jerry Donahue or Dimarzio Area Hot T would be my pick.

Best bridge p/u I've heard in a tele so far is the Wolfetone "*****" single coil. In my '69 RI tele thinline, paired with a Wolfetone "cub" in the neck. With a no load tone pot. Wide open on tone, it's a real handful. Cuts like a knife, but not ice pick. Roll off tone substantially, and it comes alive in a completely different way.

I rarely play bridge only on teles, even with my partscaster with Don Mare's 2324 p/us - which are the other best set I can recommend. But on this thinline, it's bridge most of the time.

I think these sound really good as well! They are good and hot, without losing the tonal function.
