This made me laugh MUCH more than I was suppose to these days. Much much more in fact
An A-hole and pink pus... I mean ***** pink! What age rating is this forum again?
It actually censored that...
I don't know, I'm just channeling my inner 11-year old...
My first binding job. Using goo made from bits of binding and acetone for glue. I'm foolishly assuming this cream binding I got from a random Chinese eBay seller is pure ABS. Read somewhere on the 'net that if there's other plastics mixed in, acetone will not hold. I guess I'll find out at some point.
Was going to put binding on the back as well. That was before I'd actually ever attempted putting binding on anywhere. Figured a roundover would do the trick better, especially with 9 mm thick plywood. Got a bit of router burn but nothing that a generous helping of PP won't fix. The white stripes on the edge are filler. This is likely to be my first and last time using plywood for a guitar.
And here's where we stand now. Rubbed on a little cold-pressed linseed oil to bring out the figure. Might have to repeat the treatment. It will get coated in lacquer and a tint when the linseed oil has dried.
Nice, I haven't been into this thread in a while!
Looks like the binding is holding just fine - looks good!
First splash of colour.
Alright . . . Moving right along.
I _could_ quote the old story about the young bull and the old bull, but this is a family-friendly channel. A-holes notwithstanding. Anyway, I think PP looks rather fetching.
I'm still at it. Behold the back.
This is awesome!
That is guttalicious!!!!
Very "brainy." Awesome.
Quite surprised you managed post #45 referencing "cream" and "goo" without soliciting a response worthy of the rest of this thread. I'd take a shot but I can't come up with a firm idea.
Second coat of epoxy. Looks glossy and shiny, doesn't it? But oh! Woe is me!
Shagged this bit while buzzing the excess brain off on the router table. I wish I could say I've never been this stupid before, but I'd be lying. Oh well. I guess it's time to break out the Bondo.
I did that once - all the way around the back side of the neck pocket with a 1/4" roundover. But I had not yet drilled the neck mounting holes so I just made a narrower stainless steel neck plate and stayed inside the roundover with narrower spaced holes. Looks like bondo or some such is indicated in this case, as you say.
It's still wicked cool, and this hickey will never be seen from a galloping horse.
Cool and disturbing!
Epic avatar pic.
Not sure who this 'Brainy' guy is/was (I'm sorta new here) but, seems like his presence only added to a forum/thread.
You might wanna wear my “hat” when you are playing it...
