No worries mate, cheers for the nudge. Been having a bit of a Christmas break, with no access to a workshop, back in action starting this Tuesday.
Here's a teaser for what's yet to come:
Where have I seen that before?
Oh Boy.... I think any other comment would get be disqualified and banned around here,
That's tight bro
You got me dreaming of giant pink metal flake.
That's very pretty! I looked into getting some DPP, turns out it's pretty hard to get this side of the pond. Then I did some more *ahem* research, and discovered the Molotow Premium spray bomb range. Those wacky Germans.
Ment 2 B together, dont ya think, love Roth flake and pearl!
and its available on flea bay.
Getting precariously close, ... again!
Yes it is, it's the postage that breaks the deal. Other flake brands are around, but pink flake by any other name would not look as sweet (on a Brainy tribute), now would it? Anyway, I'm sort of relieved that I now don't have to figure out how to get the flake from the jar onto the body. One of these days I will get around to doing a flake finish... but not yet.
Me 2. I'll probably use the salt shaker method.
I've used these guys many times for their candy pearls and they also have flake. The smaller stuff can be sprayed so it's a good compromise. No affiliation but really like their stuff..
Finally a little progress, even if some of it is sideways.
Should have put the top on ages ago. Maybe then the plywood back wouldn't have twisted the body quite this much. Nothing that a few passes on the jointer won't fix though. Good thing this isn't a Strat so I don't have to worry about body thickness too much.
Gluing the 2-piece top together. It's from the same birch plank as the body core, about 5 mm thick.
All taped up.
Suddenly I don't feel so bad about my rate of progress. ;}
Ah, there you are. You can't introduce PP to us and then just disappear, you know. But I know Andy would have been deeply appreciative of your efforts to find just the right color.
The only thing about that PP is that you can't just USE it. It's not like DPP. You have to warm it up gradually. Talk nice to it. Let it drink a little thinner. Rub its can gently. Maybe bring a little gift. And if it isn't in the mood to be sprayed, well, forget it. DPP, hey, give me two seconds, good to go. Always ready.
isn't in the mood 2b sprayed
and quit drinking the thinner *****! there isn't enough left to spray.
Its in there!, Fuchsia Holographic Metal Flake! Baby!
Gluing the top on, finally. I should have snuck in a few more clamps.
When I started this thread, I promised a unique feature. Feel free to prove me wrong - but as far as I know, unlike all other guitars ever, this is (going to be) the first guitar where the A-hole is on the front.
Here's a gratuitous A-hole close-up.
A for Awesome!.
I'm sure Brainy would have loved your A-hole...
