Not sure if this is the right forum...

We as tele players all love Brads sound and tone and style and guitars and all that. But when you actually listen to his guitar tone, do you like it?

It is so signature in my opinion. Its woody, deep, weird silk mid range honk, but not very articulate. When you listed to "Start a Band" do you like Brad or Keiths tone? I dont know if Keith used a tele on that song but Keiths tone is clear and accurate and nice and when you hear Brads, its just blissful mud???

Maybe I am crazy, just checking...

I like MY tone...and then I don't like it, so I change MY tone...

I like Paisley's playing...I hope HE likes HIS tone...

Paisley's tele cuts through better in the mix of that song, Urban's not quite as much. I think you nailed it, it's the mids that cause his tone to be honky and cut through..."liking" it is subjective...

I really love Brads Tone, its everytime there like a fist, just check any youtube video from live performances, its more recognizeable than his voice I think, I for myself dont like the song start an abnd not so much, thats why I dont listen to it so often.

yep, i think he´s getting a little bit too much in that overdrive area. i preferred his clean with a slight hair tone, but it´s up to him....

Overall, I don't like his tone. It's not interesting to me.

He is a fantastic player and it's working for him. Success is the best revenge.

I would like to see/hear him with a fender amp and his fav. tele and a 4 pc. band in a small club without all the bells and whistles and digital production crap, then ask me.

Agreed. It would be cool to hear his core tone straight outs his amp without all the processing.

I think his tone works great for his music.

I give massive amounts of credit to anyones tone that is recognizable when you hear it. It's probably more in his fingers than anything else. I personally love it.

I think he's got a cool tone, I can tell it's BP right away... lots of people want that tone, but nobody has it but Brad, of course that's mostly because of his chops and style... it can even seem a bit repetitive sometimes when it comes to fills and solos... but hey, if AC/DC can make the same album 20 or more times then BP can certainly recycle a few licks lol... I'm with the people who would like to hear him just jam, a lil 3 piece band in a small club, just plug and play.... actually there are some videos of Brad Demoing Dr. Z amps floating around out there.... lemme see if I can find one.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxqXyWbwUHk cool stuff in that one, some typical BP playing and some not so typical

Edit- nevermind the link, someone beat me to it

Yes, and he's plugged straight into the amp and still has the tone.

I bet if you and I plugged into that amp and played that guitar, we would sound nothing like that.

I personally can't stand his tone. It isn't articulate enough for my tastes and far too twangy.

BP's tone is original and pleasant enough. But it is by far not one of my favorites. I don't even care for Gatton's either, but I love listening to both of them.

The tones I love are Don Rich, Clarence White and Ray Flacke. Albert Lee sounded great too when he used a Fender.
