    Celluloid Nitrate is a dangerous material and normally can not be shipped overseas. You'd better not drop your cigarette on that binding (-;
The modern plastic imitations look so bad that nobody wants to use them..

I love it too. The board looks sweet.

Thanks Nick. The acoustic model will have an option for a floating low profile neck PU. The electric models will have 1 or 2 AirGap PU's through the top.
Thanks for that book suggestion. Ordered!

Body joints are perfect. Guess I'll be using the simple clamping method in the future.
Excess maple overlays are roughly trimmed

Like the other Bone models the back body corner is smoothed but on the Bone Voyage the binding get in the way so it will be done a little differently and the binding will need to take a round turn. Marked

    roughed

    and chiseled

Just for reference I inserted the neck.. the 3 ledges will be smoothed nicely at final sanding in a few days.

Before I cut the binding channels there's one more thing to do. Neck fillet is sawed and sanded flat

board is centered over the neck and I pencil its outline over the body just to verify the board's edge is exactly aligned with the cutaway.

It is.. we're good to go.

While I'm at it I also inspect the fitting between the neck and the body

    a little spoiler.. (-;

I cut the binding channels free hand on my dome jig

two quick passes do the job

    A little BooBoo...
I thought I had the locator pin drilled within the binding section but I missed by a tiny bit.
    Will fix it later..

rounded corner is done with a chissel as my channel cutter will not reach it..

I bound the body with all 3 strips at the same time and use acetone as glue.
But... If I could only do them in the correct order... LOL
I noticed something looked strange... I switched the black and the white strips.

    Here we go again..

    and the back

Off topic, but is that a Tissot T-Touch you're wearing? I love those things, but my wife would never let me buy one. The compass on them is perhaps the single coolest thing I've ever seen on a watch! :D

impressive. that rosewood sure is pretty.. yet the traditionalist still want boring no figure rosewood slabs.. never will understand that. but its all good.. great thing about wood. it has so much variation between every piece even pieces in the same tree. its all pretty. but ill take trippy looking grain, personal preference. :D

i like how you floated the top. lot easier than iv seen others do it. keep up the great work.

Truss rod pulled out of its channel and removed. I now cut the TR nut stepped access hole

    like this

Rod is bee waxed and inserted back

    That's the nut.

Slicing the tenon to align with the board line I marked

    like that

Nut is mounted and the rod is tested to extreme to make sure it's anchored and functioning will

This is how it will look relative to the board

Headstock TR plug is hide glued. In case the rod will ever need service or replacement (highly unlikely.. but still) it will be easy to steam the plug and pull the rod out.

    Yeah. I destroyed my Omega Speadmaster Moon Watch with the magnetic field of the PU charger and I need to ship it for service. Guess the astronauts didn't encounter strong magnetic storms in the outer rim of the galaxy back in the 60's (-;

This Tissot doesn't care.. it's a rigid piece of technology.

Actually.. many ask me for highly figured BRRW boards.
I use rift or flat cut figured boards on the Bone line and QS for thraditional replicas..etc..

You do such great work, Preeb. I'm also looking forward to see how these integrated

Neck is sanded flat and tapered

Fingerboard's bottom is scraped flat and sanded with 80 grit for better adhesion.

    Neck is heated

    Board is hide glued

Holly veneer will be used on the HS face

    Cut

    Mother of Pearl logo inlay

Filler is hide glue mixed with lamp black powder.

    I heat it up

and let it set over the inlay

    Headstock center line penciled

bottom of the veneer is sanded flat. Even though it's not fully dry yet it's solid enough to be glued. It will dry over night and sink but I can refill it tomorrow.

    Veneer is hide glued

    Thanks. Me too. The tap tone is great and the top is pretty solid in the center so I guess it's not bad (-;
