Thinking of changing up the look on my tele (CS 50's Journeyman Relic, 2-tone sunburst ash body, maple fretboard). Right now it has a cream 5-hole 3-ply guard on it, as the original 1-ply white 5-hole that came on it always looked so stark white. What do you guys think of a black pickguard, like a black '52 bakelite style 5-hole (with the nitro clear coat) on it? It's the polar opposite of the original white guard, but no other color besides white, parchment, cream or black would like "right" on it, and I've done the first 3. Seems like it would have a tougher/meaner look to it. My original thought when I think of black pickguard/sunburst body/maple neck is David Gilmour's Esquire, even though that one had a 3-tone sunburst on it. What say ye, tele brethren?
