Built this a couple of years ago, I had the pickguard off the other day to adjust the pickup, and was amazed at the difference in the finish under the pickguard as opposed the rest, due to fading. after only 2 years, and the guitar's never been outdoors.

this is my take on the blackguard with a few concessions to modern times
    locking tuners
    modern wiring
    plastic guard
    "noskin" finish
callaham compensated saddles [call me a woos if ya like]

she is a great player and it gets a lot of use
easy on my back at just over 6lbs

I kept this one for about 4 years before letting it go. It had all the right stuff.

This one went to a friend in Texas.

USACG body and neck, nitro finish. Glendale, Don Mare... Greybeard is the English translation of my last name...

Oh yeah - I'm now sorted for Telecasters. I don't ever see myself buying another, in fact I'm thinking of selling a couple.

Getting closer... I'm aiming for something not dissimilar to Telecaster #4709 from the Blackguard Book - something nice and creamy rather than heavily yellowed - what do you think?

    My own Blackguard.

Well after nearly two years and a lot of interruptions of other projects I finished my latest blackguard.

    A little description:
Poplar body, finished in Re-Ranch Fender blonde with Bakelite pg and Fender Custom shop No-Caster pups. One piece maple neck with bone nut and vintage style tuners. Tried to keep the vintage vibe throughout, with a couple concessions, chrome electro-socket and compensated bridge saddles.

Here's the longwinded build thread if you want to see the history.

    And here are the pics:

He will never receive another gift that cool and thoughtful.

    Finished at last... :)

Hopefully I'll have a son one day to pass this on to. In the mean time, I'm looking forward to this yellowing and mellowing as it grows old.

This was my first project and my interpretation of a modern Blackguard. Delighted with it and is now my No.1 guitar !!

Nice SOM, were the visible screws on the front pup deliberate? I know it's a pain to adjust vintage correct ones.

If you guys keep doing this to me then I feel peer presured to build a relic too. At least I can half way justify that I start collecting bits and pieces!
