I mostly use pure nickel 11's for two of my Teles that are in standard tuning. On my '72 Custom RI I use nickel-plated steel because it's a darker guitar and it's tuned in 5-string Open G. Typically I use Fender, Ernie Ball, or Rotosound strings, but in the hot months I scrap all of it and use Cleartone 11's because my sweat eats normal strings. The Cleartones are pretty good in their own right.
Skulls String Normal 10-46, not cheaper but superb durability & twang
Perfect for frequent gigging...
Schaapie, I thought you only played 8'ts?? Have you turned now that you finaly got a tele
Fender 150's...10's and Ernie Ball Slinky's...10's. Wanna try flat wounds. It's just a personal preference.
Guys! At least once,,, try the Thomastik-Infeld Strings. You won't go back back to cheapo American made strings. They are so superior, Much better tone, and at least three to four times the life. American strings cannot compare.
DR Pure Blues for me. 9s on my Tele & 10s on my Strat.
Sound sweet, last long time.
GHS Boomers, 10's.
Elixir .11s do it for me.
think i may give the DR Tite Fits or Pure Blues with the lite gauge.
Do yourself a favor and try a set. I cannot believe how much more alive Thomastik strings are than everything else I have tried.
Look at it this way how much did you spend on your rig? What's another twenty bucks.
Used GHS 10's for years, but these days I put Ernie Ball 9's on everything.
Ernie Ball Rock N Roll 9's.
Are they the low tension ones?
Anyone tried the Ernie Ball Cobalt strings yet? I've seen a few positive reviews and have been thinking about grabbing some.
Tried them twice. it's cool, but think i'm keeping the 9's.
Ernie Ball Super Slinkies for me. I actualy use them on all of my electrics.
Still trying a few different ones?
Usually like D'Addarios & Elixirs but have kinda settled in for EB Skinny top/heavy bottoms... (coated & not). Always 10s.
Got a set of XLs on my RW now, not overly impressed with them so far. Only on for last two days so...?
There are no best strings for a Tele any more than there are best strings for a strat or Les Paul. Play what's comfortable. Me, I'm back to 9.5s after a long afair with 10s...D'Addarios usually or any other brand that makes 9.5s.
ghs boomers- I keep asking for lefty strings but nobody seems to have them
