Just watched The Dark Knight again, and once again was completely enthralled by Heath Ledger's Joker. That character was brilliantly written and performed. He's one of my favourite movie villains, along with Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham and Laurence Olivier as the "dentist" in The Marathon Man.

Who are your favourite movie villains?

I think this thread is going to really show our ages here. For me, it's gotta be Darth Vader. I was eight years old when the original Star Wars hit the theaters, and that guy scared the snot out of me.

I am not a connoisseur of the super-hero/villain genre by any stretch, but I have seen Peter Pan a bunch of times, and whoever it was that played Captain Hook did a good job in my book.

Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. Truly scary.
Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet. Genuinely, truly scary.

Heath Ledger was unreal, or too real.

De Niro in Cape Fear, up there.

And I liked the guy in No Country for Old Men.

The best acting that made me really want to hate someone was Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

DDL's portrayal of 'Bill the Butcher' in "Gangs of New York" was scary.

And definitely Javier Bardem's killer in "No Country for Old Men" ... Call it.

Javier Barden in No Country for old men... The dude was relentless as a bad guy.
He is cast as a similar type character in the latest 007 Bond film Skyfall.

I'm sure there's plenty more from the past...Eli Wallach good bad ugly ...bring em on.
