    Whoopee John Wilfahrt

John Anthony Wilfahrt, (May 11, 1893 – June 15, 1961), the eldest son of John Wilfahrt and Barbara Portner, was a professional polka musician who recorded with Decca Records. He went by the moniker "Whoopee John." Wilfahrt was born in New Ulm, Minnesota and got his start playing the accordion at local gatherings and concerts in and around his community.

If I remember correctly, he had a concertina orchestra and they would always announce the show as "And now John Wifahrt and his orchestra will play."

My buddy used to work with a guy named Richard Swallow Jr. Talk about child abuse.

Also, I went to school (K-10) with a Sandy Dick. All the boys used to joke and tell people her middle name was Anita.

We used to have a breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 in the UK hosted by the eminent Irish broadcaster (Sir) Terry Wogan. His fans, known as TOGs (Terry's Old Geezers) would write in under a brilliant variety of made-up names such as Phil McGlassup, Edna Cloud and umpteen others. Mine was "Upton O'Goode". A google search should turn up loads more. Among the cheekier ones were...

    Drew Peacock
    Rudolph Hucker

Yellow River, by I. P. Freely

Fifty Yards to the Outhouse, by Willie Maykit, illustrated by Betty Wont

True story: my grandmother's birth name was Minnie Maxey. Of course, she was born in 1901, back when neither "mini" nor "maxi" were terms used for dress lengths or feminine hygiene products.

I used to know a girl, a real slut. She must have spent half the time with her knickers round her ankles. Lucy Lastic was her name.

    Also, this seems appropriate:
