My cousin Pete posted this on FB today... Evidently the 70's kid show Banana Splits is being turned into an R rated horror flick... I REALLY don't know what I think of this

They really are trying to demonise everything from the past.
Looks like there is no limit to how far they will go.

I was never a fan of the show anyway.

So I guess this will spawn a new fashion and music style, furry juggalos or something like that.

Pretty sad that kids of the future will be scared of stuffed animals.

Between that and word that Quentin Tarentino is working on an R-rated Star Trek script, it's getting to be a topsy-turvy world out there...

Yup. Even as a noncritical teevee addicted kid, sucking down bowls of Super Sugar Bombs cereal on Saturday morning, I knew it was kaka. I watched anyways.

Looks like they are borrowing a page from Sonny Shine's character on the teevee show Happy! [also a SyFy production]. In the Happy! show, Sonny's thing is that kids can't be fooled by make believe anymore, so the cartoon violence he doles out on his massively successful kid's teevee show is real. If you haven't seen Happy! ... it can be described as Roger Rabbit meets Sin City. Just wrapped Season 2, so (like everything else) you'll have to pay the man to see it. I like it a lot, but I'm not conflicted by super violent stuff combined with cuddly, fuzzy imaginary (or are they?) characters.

I don't care that The Banana Splits is being co-opted for a slasher movie... it's not like they are slaying the stellar reputation of some beloved icon like Mickey Mouse. Have at it.

    On refl
On reflection a lot of the shows that were on on Saturday morning were terrible, as was the cereal.

I just have to brag that I saw the Banana Splits in concert around 1969 or so.

    That is all.

I watched the Banana Splits as a kid, and I have no interest in this movie whatsoever.
However, this always made me smile:
