Not in Rock and Roll very often but here it works:

I don't understand the little boy outfit but hey it seems to have worked for him.

The story is was that he’d do gigs, underage, straight after school and not change his uniform. The A stands for Ashfield Boys High School. (Where incidentally my son goes, and I was president of the parents committee. Not that anyone cares).

So was Bon really playing the pipes? I have wondered that for many years.

He’d been on a pipe band. But as a drummer. So I don’t think it’s him.

    I like them.

    Everything in moderation, mostly.

It is a good story and makes some sense. The uniform became his trademark.

He tried to drop the schoolboy schtick at one stage, but the crowd booed him without it.

He's not the only Aussie Rock Icon to choose a school uniform for performance. The amazing, lamented, late Chrissy Amphlett. Her bad schoolgirl was every young rock fans wet dream. Like the Young brother's being part of a dynasty with older brother George from the Easybeats, Chrissy's aunt was Little Pattie, who had hits with the surf/stomp 60s pop scene.

Something about Aussies of Scottish heritage choosing bagpipes. John Farnham whose knickname is 'The Voice'.

By the way, you know why pipers march? To get away from the din, ya ken!

Yup, not in the original film clip, but he learned it for gigs. He was a flautist I think.

My guitar teacher saw the Young brothers live, starting out as teens. They got booed off stage, showing A Aussie pub crowds are tough and B there's hope for everyone.

I played so many Scottish Highland Festivals that I kind of expect them to be around when ever I play an outdoor gig. I can take them in moderation, but there is no moderation with some of those guys.

Bonus points for guessing where you've heard this before...:)

Wonder if he's related to this guy?

    Erm, yeah.

I've heard perfect pitch is when you toss your banjo into a dumpster full of bagpipes. Or vice versa.

Although I do like them in smaller doses. With a last name like Campbell its pretty much required, although I like the Irish pipes better. Higher pitched and less like a cat getting strangled.
