"Some people combine expressions to make new ones.

    "Rocket surgery" for instance."

I think rocket surgery is at least a little clever. I myself have used mixed expressions like not the sharpest knife in the happy meal.

My wife's family had a big reunion over the holidays. Lots of cousins and second-cousins, but I realized we could use some more words for common relations: what do you call your parent's cousins? What do they call you? I realize the correct genealogical term for both is "cousin, once removed", but I want a friendlier word like "cuz-aunt" or "cuz-unc".

Orientated vs oriented. I hear this one all the time. It's starting to become disorientating.

    Has anyone mentioned this one?

"A person that..." As in "Eric Clapton is a person that plays the guitar."

A person is NOT a that! A person is a who!

I hear this a lot these days. It's very annoying. I even read it on the BBC's site! Of all places! The English invented the language, for crying out loud! (And I emailed them to point it out.)

Whenever my boss writes something for a news release I always make sure to correct his grammar before it goes out. That's what he pays me for! For what he pays... that's for which he... aw nevermind.

Yeah, that bugs the crap outta me. So does "Come with?"

Come with what??? Even if you don't want to go to the trouble of "would you like" It stills deserves at least a "you wanna" on the front and a "me" or "us" on the back...

I emailed a so-called professional writer for using the barf-inducing "could of" instead of what it should be : "could HAVE!"

It is odd because this morning, I knew something was different when I woke up. I looked out and somehow... things were different. They were better... it was as though something had been fixed.
