Tetanus Infected. Great punk band name.
The almost finished, mythical, Backlund model 1700 'Nautilus', as it was found 150 years from now lying in the silt at the bottom of an ancient Wyoming cattle pond....
Custer's Last Axe
This one's got room for a mosrite style vibrato and bridge, like hallmark is currently making.
Finally got around to finishing this thing.
This is just a phone screenshot of the art, but it gets the idea across...
I just noticed the Backlund 400 in this month's Vintage Guitar (page 123).
Spec'ed at 7.5 lbs, and "part spaceship, part 1959 Cadillac."
Great job John.
Thanks! I had no idea that it was mentioned in the magazine.
"Mentioned" would be modest - it's a half-page review with two nice pictures!
Nice! I wonder how that happened? I'm not used to getting any press with this stuff.
Unfortunately, I don't think I can find that magazine around here.
If only there were a way to purchase things without having to physically find them in a store... oh well.
Surprising they'd write that much without trying to contact the designer...
I'm personally invisible to 'The Industry', always have been.
Over the dozen or so years I've been involved with designing guitars, I've never been contacted once by anybody for anything concerning the Backlund guitars in their various forms. I sometime think that I'm perhaps considered a fictitious character, a made up brand name like 'Jay Turser', or....heaven help me..'Betty Crocker'.
It's kind of funny, actually.
Hmm.....you may be on to something there.
Is it in the February or March issue?
I went to the only place in town that had Vintage Guitar magazine on their news stand, but they only had the January issue.
Next up, the Betty Crocker by John Backlund.
I for one would love to see what that would look like.
Also, April needs to hurry up and get here. I need my Marz!
As always, I'll get one as a sample, but I'd like to purchase a second. I'd like to have a green one, and also a black one.
I subscribe - the current issue is April (I don't know why magazines do that...). It has Bonamassa on the cover playing a Flying V.
It should be a Backlund kitchen-aid mixer, and I want one.
