AZ Thread needs a bump! New member here from AJ.. Born & raised third generation native AZ
Bump away! Where do you live?
I'm back home in Apache Junction after a few years of traveling
I'm in Tempe. I need to play with people! I'm a beginner but yo we all start somewhere. Just picked up a highway one Tele .
I'm a native Texan that grew up in Tennessee, but I've been in the Tempe/Mesa area for about three years now. There's a lot to like out here, though I haven't decided yet if I'll stay long after graduation.
I'm descendant from thousands of years of settlement in the four corners area, in cultures older than America....but living mostly in Tempe and now Gilbert, so..yeah
Used to drive up from Tucson to go tubing on the Salt. Those were great days, floating down the naked river. I understand now it's been completely developed.
BorderRadio, all those pictures are great, but like these two the best.
The Salt still has tubing! It's just not as remote as it used to be...
Thanks about the pics: the B/W is from around 1900, a ditch heading on the Gila River, the second is mine taken from Mesa a few summers ago.
Originally from Michigan but have lived in Phx area for 20 yrs! Founding member of Tramps&Thieves (2000)
New to the forum. Been in AZ 17 years, grew up in Montana and Idaho.
Grew up in Tucson, then spent quite a while in Idaho (Boise). Guess we swapped states.
Didn’t know there was such a club - I can only apply for emeritus status. I grew up in Tucson, learned to play there, bought my first decent guitars from Rainbow Guitars when it was just a little corner shop. Graduated from Catalina High School about 10 years after Linda Ronstadt, was friends with some of her many cousins, and had a friend who lived across the street from their big property, where we used to go into the desert to get high even when her brother was still the Police Chief - I know, really smart, right?
I haven’t lived there full time since 1981 and haven’t gotten back all that often since my folks moved away in ‘86, but I still have some really tight friends out there and still get back from time to time. Most recently for a 40th high school reunion in October of ‘16. I haven’t lived there in ages and probably never will again, but on some level the place you grew up will always be home, and Tucson still feels that way to me when I’m there. Not sure I could handle the summer heat now, though, like I could as a kid...
Another Tucsonan here, NW side. Moved from Denver in 81 as a kid, one year in HI couple years ago, and now happy to be back home. Thanksgiving in my backyard. Can't beat it.
How's the weather down there, hombres?
Scorching, with 100 percent chance of perspiration.
Pretty warm, but if you like fishing there is a pretty decent bite right now and the black crappie is massive and good eating
Went to high school at Grand Canyon High School. Served my 4th grade year at Goodyear (lived in Avondale).
Cortez High class of 65. live in Clarkdale & Verde Valley area for the last 40 yrs
I don't live in AZ, but I've been there many times and really love that state. It is fascinatingly beautiful.
That's a big'un. Where are you fishing?
