Anyone else buy the same gear over & over?

Had a Classic Vibe tele & sold it. Now I want another one.
Had a few G&Ls and sold them. Now I want another one.
Had a guitar with P90s and sold it. Now I want another one.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know why I get rid of gear & later on down the road wind up wanting it again. I guess I just love buying new stuff. But I often convince myself that a piece of gear isn't good enough when, in fact, it's perfectly fine.

Have had 5 or 6 MIM Std Tele's . One is currently my only Tele.

Have had two Strymon Flint pedals. Currently have none but would never rule out another one.

Have had a real 1957 Deluxe and have had a clone. Currently have none but would not rule out another one.

Have had 2 Champs. Currently have none but may be getting another this week.

    So, yeah...

in the past, due to lack of integration alot of gear was isolated, eg minimoog was analogue , but you had no way of integrating it into a system , so you had to develope a system around it , and because they were unstable no 2 of them responded or sounded quite the same, I sold off all my analogue equipt to get digital stuff that could interact together making a bigger whole , I wish I had kept it all and there was a lot of it , but the newer Tech is much more responsive and flexable .
I had 2 early 60's fender Jags , an early 60's tele , a black face super reverb and black face bassman 50 with 2X12 slant cab and 2X15 bass cab , a late 50's Gretsch country gentle man bass, 70's Gibson EB-3L, and all I have left out of this is my 70 gibson SG standard fretless wonder , all else is gone

every 2 years i cycle back n forth between Fender & Gibson...and Marshall & Fender Amps...over and over...i just moved the fender out and now the Gibson is in..what i did do this time was keep 2 main amps cause i found them. Marshall DSL40 & Fender 68 CDR. So when i start the madness, at least have reference points for sound. This time, kept a Strat and will eventually get another Tele . I think what happens is it pulls me out of a same sound slump and every time i swap gear new songs just happen so easily..the my stupid mind prob gets GAS and away i go again...i have bought and sold a Boss sd1 4 times..what is wrong with me !! lol

Yes. Pedals for sure. Guitars I’ve been better at not repeating myself. You have to ask yourself “did I like it the first time?”

I posted something very similar in another thread recently, but every time I read a glowing review for an OCD, I think, “Man I should pick one of those up.” I mean, yeah, I did own one a few years ago and it didn’t work for me, but so what? And who cares if I’ve also owned two separate OCD clones at different times over the last five or six years and sold them off after a few months? Other people like them, and tastes can change, right? I really liked that red pepper I ate the other day, and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t always the case.

I do it with pedals every now and then. I think I’m done with pedals and sell them off one by one, then get the bug again and buy some back. Lol.

Done similar with semi hollows and hollows, and bigsby equipped guitars. I love them in theory, in reality they don’t stay in the stable too long. Then I

I sold an original ampeg 8x10 cab, the guy still has it and won’t sell it back to me. I did trade off a bass that I really missed after I traded it. I was able to get it back a year later. Kid said he got a bass for Christmas and didn’t need 2.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. While back I reached out to the seller of the custom G&L I had built to see if he was interested in selling it back to me. He wanted what he bought it for.

at this point I own five TOA D-4 rack mixers and two TOA D-4E extensions. I've purchased basically every single one off of ebay and reverb. So help me god if more show up i'll purchase them too. even if they're just for parts. the other day i saw my gmail tab go up by 1, and i looked at it; i had gotten an email from ebay that a TOA D-4/D-4E pair (with the buss link cable, this is important) had been listed for sale. I bought them instantly. got one for sale? pm me, i'll buy it.

Nope. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I can't see the day of ever buying a piece of gear that I once sold off. I'm one of those that researches and if possible, play the heck out of gear before buying and I live with those purchases for well over two years, before I ever decide to sell it and move on.

No, I don't think I do. The exception would be two of one thing but different manufacter. Say, two different overdrives. I think I knew when I ventured into this what I wanted. I'm trying to stick with that original course.

When it comes to guitars I want one that will bring a different sonic pallet that the others don't or at least "the look". Example, I probably would like a big hollow body electric like a Gretch or a Casino..Dot. That would be nice.

As far as amps go, I'm pretty much set. I would surely look over a vibrolux or a 2X10 ish amp that might cross my path though.

I've posted before that I've owned the same strat many times. Not the same model, the same exact one.

It's a 95 Am STD. I play it for a couple years, get tired of it and sell it on, then a couple years later I find it hanging in a shop, remember how much I love it, and buy it again. Lather, rinse, repeat. It's about due to turn up again. Weird how we keep running into each other. Maybe someday I'll keep it for good.

When the family needed space I sold a Traynor YRM-1 Reverb Master head and an Echoplex. I was never happy with the move. After the kids moved out I bought a Reverb Master built the same month as the first and another Echoplex.
