Hey guys/gals. I've been checking out some of TK Smith's custom guitar builds lately and am intrigued. I'm especially taken by his Tele type guitars. As far as I know, he's kinda the all-things-Bigsby aficionado. He builds his own vintage Bigsby style pickups and vibratos. Does anyone own one of his creations or at least tried one? I've checked out a few YouTube clips and was blown away by the tone. I'd just like to hear some first hand experiences.

A buddy of mine had a Tele style built by him and raves about it. I emailed TK yesterday and he told me that does complete custom builds as well as modifying pre-existing guitars. I think the latter would likely be the most cost effective for me. Still not cheap though. But it would be a badass machine no doubt!

So glad to see this thread on here! I have always admired TK Smith as a player and more recently as a builder. He is by far a master craftsman from shaping surfboards to building hot rods this guy seems to be able to do it all. I don't own one his guitars yet. I have played one of his guitars(not the tele type) and it was pure heaven! This will be my next guitar. The tele that he built for Pat Cappoci sounds amazing. The custom trem arm and Bakelite pick guard take it to another level! As far as I'm concerned fender can keep their custom shop stuff I will take a TK smith tele any day!

That's a sweet looking tele! I think if I'm not mistaken that TK is casting his own bigsby style tremolos now as well.

I see that this thread has been dormant for some time, my interest in TK's guitars flared up after I saw the video for the new J. D. McPherson single...

looks like the Bo Diddley Cadillac shape....I've contacted TK, his waiting list is now a 2 year wait!! He said that he couldn't even quote me a price for 6 months....there are two of his guitars for sale currently at Carter Vintage in Nashville....

So I guess we shall see...he'll contact me in roughly 4 months and we'll take it from there....

Note how highly elevated the neck is?
    Cool looking guitars.

I own, and could only afford, one of his CCII blade pickups (neck, with his standard tele pickguard) and love it.

that's to compensate for the bridge he's using for the bigsby.

I've played his CC pickup in a tele, one of his tele builds and one of his Roadmaster guitars. They're all special, but all are designed around clean tones.
