I've got a bunch of guitars living in my house and most are Tele/ Esquires, but I pretty much just play the one Esquire that stays plugged in.
No need to stray in search of other XXX.

    So you've never been objectified?

Who are those guys coming in the back?

There was a time in the late 60's when I had one T-shirt, one pair of Levis, one pair of shoes and one guitar.
Since then I've acquired a few more of each item. Why not? I mean - why not?

    I have...

One American Elite Telecaster in Mystic Black.
One Dr. Z Z-Wreck Quantum Silver Set Head/Cab.
    One Weber MiniMass Attenuator.
One 20' Lava Vintage Tweed instrument cable.
One 15' Lava Vintage Tweed instrument cable.

Once i had all that, i sold everything else and i have never been happier. I have finally stopped obsessing over gear, and focus on my playing so much more.

I only wish i had done it years ago....

What's all this conflation with guitars and women? Never got that.

They're nice tools, but I don't call my table saw "Betty"...

They're gorgeous works of art, but I don't call that Van Gogh (print) hanging on my wall "Doris". If it were the real thing, I might call it simply wonderful, but that's about it.

I don't feel all that strongly about this, as it doesn't affect me directly, but it does seem to be an insult to women, players or not.

And no, I don't have one guitar. I like variety.

Why would you call your table saw 'Betty' when her name is Gloria? I never understood giving inanimate objects pet names either. (I have a pet rock called Brian, but that's another story).

A man can survive multiple guitars. No way a man comes out sane or alive with multiple women.

I quite enjoyed it, but that was years ago when I had so much more stamina.

I learned at a young age, if you're gonna have four girlfriends at once, make sure at least two of them have the same name, and the others should be similar. That saved me a few times, while dating Lisa, Lisa, Melissa, and Marisa. I can't even imagine having that much energy today.

I'm guilty....two Tele's my main '52 RI and a '62 MIJ Custom Tele w/ Bigsby. All the electronics in the '62 have been changed to CTS pots, SD pup's and an Orange Drop cap.

Yeah, mostly, but it took me about 11 or 12 to find THE One, and I still have most of the guitars I went through to get to The One.

One electric -- a MIJ Tele.
    One acoustic -- Alvarez Yairi
OTOH when I was working as a full-time photographer I owned a dozen cameras and more than a dozen different lenses.

I should get down to one, but how to choose? Like choosing your favorite kid, or something.

I find that different guitars inspire me. It's that simple.

But I always come back to a Tele and then venture out again.

I also think of guitars as multi material artworks and have them around my home on stands to enjoy.

This way I have a visual treat and I can pick one up to play and improve my playing.

    What could be better?

I never worked as a pro photographer, but I do have a collection of Canon SLRs and assorted FD lenses from the days before disposable plastic took over. They get used all the time, especially a lovely EF 'Black Beauty' and my favourite A-1.

I used to have a hard core of three or four keeper guitars and other ones came and went. I've now got rid of the peripheral ones and settled with two Bajas, a thinline and a solid Cab. One of the Bajas may go soon.
As said above, I also seem to get more out of a guitar when I play it a lot, rather than flitting from one to another.
    Just my take on it.
