NASCAR is a "good old boys" sport. That is the answer if you ask me.

Although, Bernie Eccelstone's view on women isn't any better.

Guess so. She drove in the Indy 500 and the Daytona 500 the same year. I don't think too many of their drivers were doing that back then.

And this wasn't even the Hall of Fame. It was just a honorary award. In fact, I think it's called Hall of Honor. She definitely deserves that.

    You spelled 'Woody' wrong.

I remember her. I worked at Michigan International Speedway as a kid. They used to have the Twin 200. Open wheel and stock cars. I think she did both races a few times, with the Unsers and the other guys who raced in both series.

NASCAR proving once again why it's a shell of its former self.

She was, briefly. But I think she got her ride based on her NASCAR record. She raced 4 seasons with them. I dont think she had a well funded team, and that matters. She doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame, but she was competitive. She was a legit chauffeur.

Maybe she wasnt a pioneer, given NASCAR isn't really overrun by women drivers today. But she brought attention to the sport and represented it well.

I had a lot going on in my life back then but I do remember the name. I knew she was a driver but knew/know very little about her. Yep, I’m old
