I just got my first electric two weeks ago, a 2011 MIA Fender Highway One. I've been giggin' acoustics for about 15 years, but just made the switch.

I just scored a BOSS BD-2 off ebay for a great price. I just loved the tone in the sound clips on the Boss website much better than the OS-2.

Anyone else got love for the BD-2?

I really dig mine. Plenty of other folks on this forum enjoy the BD-2 as well. You're in good company!

You use it for a boost? I'm very curious how you make this work. Won't this change your tone quite a bit when you kick it on/off? I'm assuming you only boost for solos, so do I understand it correctly that you only want the BD-2 effect for your solos and not for your rhythm?

I love my BD-2 pedal. It adds that much need warmth to my tone.

I have a BD2. I did the Allums H2O mod on it. Great pedal.

Oh yeah...with the gain all the way down and the volume and tone up where you need them, it makes a great clean boost.

Thanks, I figured this out just playing around with it. I like it for the overdrive effect, but I found that it brightened and thinned the color of my tone a bit when used as a boost. I just recently got a Boss GE-7, used it for the first time last night at a gig solely as a boost and love this much more.

This is what I generally used mine for...and light OD sometimes.
Then I did the Keely "Phat" mod to it...holy smokes...
    Good OD before...Great OD now!

I've just sent off for that kit. Wish me luck, it's the first time I've wielded a soldering iron inside a pedal.

None whatsoever. Found it harsh. Really grated on my nerves.

Stock, not so much. Modded by Keeley, amazing. Very versatile, transparent boost to grindy grit. my pedalboard staple.

I did the H2O kit initially, but I got the Plus upgrade kit. The H2O+ kit is even thicker and richer sounding, with no splatty tones from the note decay, which was bad with the stock pedal. It got much better with the regular H2O kit, but the Plus kit did away with any remaining splattiness. Great pedal now!

Yes.I guess I misspoke... mine is the H2O plus also.

I like what it did to the quality of the gain. Seemed to do away with the harshness.

Got one on the way to my house right now, already has the H2O+ kit installed. The Allums kit for the GE7 has equally astounding results.

I love mine: it's so versatile. I use it as a crunchy rhythm, but also to boost my AW-3... As much as I love my DS-1, the BD-2 is just a little more... versatile.
