Greetings and Happy Early New Year!

I saw an add for the new-ish single 12 AC30 and was thinking that it would could be a nice compliment, since I only have BF SF Fender amps. Has anybody had a chance to play one yet?

I own one, and from my own experience it’s great! It certainly is loud, the volume usually doesn’t go much past 2, and even that is pretty intense. But there’s a nice gain control to drive the tubes without getting too loud. Great with pedals too!

Does it help much with the AC 30 WEIGHT? I've wondered before how much of that is the amp?....how much the two speakers?...and how much the cabinet itself? Even an AC15 is more than I want to lug around.

i prefer 1x12" AC30 types. They are VERY loud by design (good examples of power not being indicative of actual volume) and the 1x12" with the right speaker of course) has a bit more focused sound. This works very well, especially when the amp is driven hard.

I haven'y played the new Vox, but compared 2x12 and 1x12 Matchless, Top Hat and other boutique AC30 "takes" in the past and the EL84's particular sound when the output stage is pushed tot he top of headroom or slightly over just "works" better in a 1x12 configuration for me.
