I finally got the nerve to take this old pup out of a handmade bass I bought way back. Just took a couple of photos to show you all....
The cap says "grey tiger type GT 452 .02 MFD"

Interesting. Was it originally meant for bass? Looks older than the birth of the P bass

I don't think it was meant for a bass, but I bought this guitar from an online auction, and it turned out to be a handmade job. The bass itself is in pretty rough shape, but the pickup works well.

That definitely looks like it came from a lap steel. What use do you have in mind for the pickup?

I've been out of work for a while now, and back in school full time, so I'm
thinking I'm gonna Ebay it. Not sure if I'll sell the guitar with the pickup or separately.

That'd be pretty neat for a neck-pickup-only jazzcaster.

great piece of history and great tone, but the pickup is real bassy and lacks definition in the neck position. I'm sure it sounds killer at the bridge, certainly great for slide.
