I simply like the sound of the G12-50, which is similar to a G12-70M that everybody seems to hate. Yes, i've had a lot of great speakers. The greatest that i liked the least, was the Alnico Blue!!! What's wrong with me? I might be listening instead of reading?

Yes! And good for you for doing so! Never believe the hype and go with what YOU like!

I actually have a g12-70 that never sounded good to me until I popped it into a small home brew 1x12 and ran it with my Cyclone head. For some reason it KILLS in this configuration. I don't ask questions - I just crank it up and let it rip!

No, I'm sure you were weird long before you got that speaker!

    :D

Like what you like, that's my philosophy!

Whichever speaker creates the sounds you desire is the "best" speaker for you.

Guitars, amps, and speakers are just tools. It is up to you to decide what tool is appropriate for the job at hand.

Yes, you are weird. But who cares because we don't need a bunch of Tele players who all sound the same.

You aren't the wacko, though, I am. I just spent $500 on some Weber Alnicos for my $400 beat-to-death 5150 combo...

    Is it wacko or whacko?

You are so right. I have been sucked in to the hype about guitar gear when i was younger, and spend way to much money on thing i thought i ought to like, instead of like what i had. When the internet came, the hype thing rose skyhigh. Everybody has an opinion, but you can't just judge on someone elses opinion when it comes to gear. If you have something you like, forget about what everybody else think and enjoy it. I even like Japanese Strat pup's

Wesmo I have a Peavey Tweed 1X12 Open-back Extension Cabinet with a Celestion G12T-75. It sounds really good to my ears...nice low end, smooth mid-range and very clear highs. Amen to all who state your preferences are what count !!!

    Hey WESMO:

I like the G12 series. Currently I have G12H30 in my Classic 30 and a Mission Tweed Deluxe. Sounds good to me. What do I know? I don't read about speakers very much but have been playing for 51 years.

That's a Rola-Celestion (Ipswich) and appears to be an M-type. Made in England, they are not the same as the current crop. Rola had a number of magnet types including the small 'S', medium 'M' and heavy 'H'. I've just picked up am amp with a G12S-20, a 'greenback' type even though it is not green, and it sounds gorgeous. There should be some numbers on the frame which might identify the year of manufacture.

For what it´s worth I have an older G10-50 in my Super Champ and I really like it. Nice and smooth break up and glassy cleans. I agree with the others, if it sounds good to you then keep on enjoying it.

I'm a really big fan of the G12H-80 that they blew out and discontinued a few years back. I have one in my Traynor YGM-3, and used to have a pair in a 2x12 cab. Just plain sweet!
