Am I the only person who dislikes Jimmy Buffett's music?

Not really my cup of tea. Have played some of his tunes in bands but just doesnt do much for me. Not to insult him. I am not criticising his talent or that of his bands. Chances are he wouldnt like my music either.

I like Tampico Trauma but after that I'm kinda meh. He's made a pretty good living by being a likeable type of slacker. Although you can't be a real slacker and attain his stature . Appearances though...And having lived by the ocean all my life I'm kinda jealous even if his music isn't on my go to list

I read that as "I cannot stand rum" and I was about take you on.
I don't listen to him but I do admire his fans' commitment to the ritual.

    This.

My mother used to play music every day on our stereo, and "Margaritaville" was one of her top picks. Nowadays if that song starts to play, I change the station, or head to the toilet.

For fun, I visited Jimmy Buffett's site "Margaritaville.com", and it crashed my Macbook. I guess it isn't a fan either.

They could use his music to get secrets out of prisoners of war but i think the courts would rule it too cruel to be permitted

Never a big fan of his, however, our band does "Margaritaville" & "Son of a Sailor". I don't sing on either song & I play bass in the band. It's fun to play a Caribbean groove on the bass so I don't mind.

  12. I don't like Jimmy's music. I think he's a nice guy though.

A short true story about Jimmy Buffet love. When my daughter got married she and her husband went to all of Jimmy's concerts. I asked them, "What do you two see in Jimmy Buffet?" My daughter said, "I don't really like him. I just go because he (husband) likes him." He looks at her and says "I like him? I've just been buying concert tickets because I thought you liked him." Well, that was the end of Jimmy Buffet.

I like him. Not a big novelty song guy, but God's Own Drunk is pretty good.

“Worked up”? Hardly. Just asking a question and expressing a view. I do get “worked up” on the front page of the newspaper like over 80 people slaughtered over the past two months.

I agree - if your mission in life is to hate an artist for some reason other than them being a pedophile or some such, you really need to re-assess. There are plenty of things in life I don't enjoy, but Jimmy Buffet goes into the category of harmless things that are easy to ignore.

Come to think of it, I'm not much of a rum fan either. Coincidence?

    Never really listen to him.

Someone got me his book for Christmas years ago. I read through until about 3/4 of the way he was so wrapped in $$ and up-purchasing float planes that I had enough. Too much ego and self-absorption for me.
