I'd like to hear suggestions of tracks/albums where the tele has been either beautifully recorded, or just played amazingly. thinking funk, blues, jazz, soul or whatever..

i love this bill frisell live version of egg radio, the 4 chord work of genius:

    any recommendations?

    Thanks

All the songs on Led Zeppelin's first album were recorded/played on a Telecaster, per Mr. Page, except "You Shook Me" - where Jimmy used a Gibson Flying V. I'd say that's a pretty good start. What a great album.

I don't. I think that Jimmy could have picked up a log with two nails and a string and played beautifully. Physical Graffiti is one of my three favorite albums by LZ - Kashmir, especially.

Be sure to watch all the way to the end to hear Nick Lowe's comment.

Just to (apparently) go left field a bit here .... Roxanne &/or So lonely - The Police ... And indeed most/all of Outlandos d'amour
Actually saw them live before the big lights shone on them ... Absolutely brilliant band live ... even Mr Sting
Andy Summers/Somers = true Telecaster god like diety. :)
Can't believe how few mentions he gets here as an exemplar of Telecaster playing. :(

A simple guitar part, but I love the Tele tone in this song.

Well, the afore mentioned Led Zep 1 has to be it for me. Wouldn't have a clue how many gats he used on PG, but pretty sure Kashmir was done on his Dano.

Kudos to Andy Summers as well - I saw them live years ago - he was brilliant!

Luther Perkins on Folsom Prison Blues
    Roy Buchanan on Sweet Dreams
and an unconventional vote for David Gilmour on Run Like Hell I'm 90% sure he recorded that on his Tele.

    You beat me to it!

I so wanna say Brown Sugar, but that was Keith ona P90 loaded SG at Muscle Shoals.....

So we do need to add Honky Tonk Women to the list....but Keith says it was with a Tele or a LP jr.....so....

Let’s add Tumblin’ Dice as we know it was a Tele.. and All Down The Line.

Bonus facts: Mick Taylor played a Strat on Brown Sugar and a Rickenbacker for slide in All Down The Line!

Check out Hey Zeus by "X". Tony Gilkyson is one of my faves and he gets some great tones out of his Tele on this record.
