One of my favorites when I'm in the mood for soul. There's loneliness hanging on every note in that one. About the video; that drummer looks do dang happy, and that's the chillest bass player I've ever seen.
I've listened to this approx 8x already tonight.
"I know, I know, I know, I know..."
always liked this guy
Am7 Em G7 Am7
people tend to forget the 7 in the G chord
how many "I knows"? or how many bars of them?
I think there are 27 " I knows".
So, how many “I knows” in the break?
As a teenager, I actually counted. I thought 26...
When it was popular I was playing in a band where the drummer sang it. He would start with the "I knows" while he was riffing on the drums, and you could go get a sandwich and get back before he would finally go into "I can't leave the young thing alone..."
It's one of those songs.
Pray to god you never write one like this.
Because you'll never write another one like it again!
For the BLUES fans here is a less heard version than Bill Withers or Jose Feliciano.
Cant let Bill Withers get away with just one.
He's a Lay's potato chip!
I still play that song after 40 yrs.. Now it more blues standard.
I still sing it in the bath.
The neighbours still knock on the floor, shouting: "Put a bleeding sock in it!".
It's endearing really.
Probably one of the only songs I can sing out loud in public without feeling embarassed and also one of my favorite songs
Aint no G7 in this song!
That drummer has a very nice snare and kickdrum tone... sounds pretty good to me. And yes, he's getting a good time.
Look at the expressions on the drummer's face. He knows exactly where she has been!
We rehearsed this a few times. No matter what we tried the singer never came back in at the right point, If we left it to him to come back when it felt right he would miss the beat despite the drums accompanying him throughout the break! some things are just not mean't to happen.
Ain't no sunshine when G7 is gone.
