Sad weekend. A couple of weeks ago I posted some shots of our rehearsal spot. For 15 years a core group of 5 of us would get together at our pedal steel players house for an evening of classic country. I got the word this weekend that the steel player could no longer continue. Not a real surprise as his health had been failing the last couple of years. We have to break it up and clean out our practice area.

Nothing goes on forever, but I will miss the weekly camaraderie and general ball busting that went on. I started playing with another group-a little more of a challenge in that we play gigs, but never practice!

At any rate-don't take anything for granted. Enjoy the music you play with friends. Have a great week everybody-

    Bob M.

    Sorry to hear that, Bob.
I hope you have many new musical opportunities in the future.

I'm really sorry for you. I've been in the same situation a few years ago

Endings are sad, but the classic line my wife always says in those situations, “when one door closes another door opens”. That’s what ya get when you’re married to a woman who had her own very successful private therapy practice for 20 yrs.

I saw the pictures and I thought of how lucky you all were to have that. Best wishes going forward.

Sorry it’s over, but it was a great, long run!
Congratulations for what appears to me a huge success, IMO.
    On to the next adventure!

That's a situation so many are looking for, a place to hang, have fun and play guitar with like-minded people. Sorry it's gone and hope you find another to fill the gap.

Sorry, man....but yeah, life is all about "change".
I have decided to bow out of the Wednesday night practices I've been going to for a while. As I've mentioned before, the other guitarist (co-leader with the bassist) is a passive/aggressive bully, and has been getting worse lately. Life's just too short to have to deal with the childish "stuff", and so I'm gone.
I know my situation is different from yours, as yours is involuntary, but I wish you luck. Maybe some of the other guys will want to continue in one form or another.....best wishes!

Keep the memories, friendships and move on musically would be my approach. Most important be sure to maintain a relationship with the steel player insofar as possible and provide the support he will need going forward. He's the big looser here as he will most likely miss hosting the jam sessions. Not being able to continue playing his steel guitar could have a negative downside. I had a close friend who played steel in a country band I was in during the late 60's. Unfortunately he lost several fingers as the result of an accident, when into a state of depression and made the decision to part this earth. Good luck going forward!

15 years! That’s a long run. You must have a ton of good memories from that.

Sorry to hear it has to end and that it’s driven by health issues. That’s good advice about not taking things for granted.

Sorry to hear about the steel player - you personally should recover from this, but alas indeed it's sad

Just had my long time primary blues jam host sell his home with a fabulous venue studio lined with brilliant back line amps. He’s prepping another studio in his new home I’m told so there’s hope.

15 years is a great run! Hopefully you and the rest of your musical mates can find another venue. Shame about your steel guitar playing friend and best of luck.

'Hope your friend's health improves. The weekly jam might not be able to continue but I'd bet he'd very much enjoy you stopping over every now and then to visit and tilt one or two : )
