I know it was discussed in the past, but I can’t find a comprehensive explanation of the right process for converting a Champion lap steel pickup so that it can be mounted on a Tele.

I recently got one taken from a 1952-1953 Champion lap steel, the base shape is different than a Tele one, and I would like to transplant it (I’d use the original Tele baseplate).

    Thanks!

^^^^ this, but include some pictures too.
I'm not sure I've even seen a lap steel pickup, only heard them discussed.

Remember these pickups did not have an elevator plate. The lower wind and lack of that plate contribute to the sound. That said, copper pennies added to the bottom of some of these pickups works wonders.
