I don't hate them, but Radiohead, for all the accolades thrown their way, just kinda leave me "meh".
Black Sabbath with Dio is kinda the same for me. He's a much better singer than Ozzy, but I much prefer the riff-based stuff Tony Iommi came up with in Ozzy's tenure. The Dio stuff just sounds like so many other metal bands to me.
And pretty much all nu-metal, especially the stuff with mic-cupping cookie monster vocals.

Lots - I began to list them but it doesn't matter. Performers I may not like tour and make music, make money, and make their fans happy. That's all good.

Wow...tough to hear folks who don't get into Pink Floyd but there are several mentioned that I appreciate more than when I was younger as well. That's what makes a list like this interesting I'm see how varied our interests are. For me, once again, I'm surprised at the bands and artists I should have liked growing up but really couldn't stand them at the time but now being older I am much more into their music and appreciate the artistry that I didn't back then. Now, back to the subject...

Loads of love out there for Guns n Roses and the legendary status of Slash as a guitarist but I just have to switch the channel when I hear one of their songs come on the classic rock station (yes...classic rock includes the 90's now;)). The lyrics are terrible, the guitar riffs merge into the same repetitive wah heavy sounds and Axl's voice while unique grates my nerves. I'd rather listen to cats mating. Now if I'm going to pile on a band like that I will follow up to say they have more talent than I do so who am I to judge.:p

Top of the list is Bon Jovi and has been for years. One band I'm trying hard to like is The Stones. Some of their stuff I really enjoy but when they have a dud it's a DUD.
I don't know, it would have been a blast to be part of just about any band mentioned so far.

Ha! There are a lot of 80's rock bands that I used to love and when I go back and really listen to the lyrics I have to cringe now....Loverboy, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Scorpion are a few that come to mind. Anybody remember Quiet Riot "Cum on feel the noize"?

Almost forgot Guns and Roses, lol. Same sentiments- Slash is a great guitar player, but...
My Pink Floyd thing came on after listening FOREVER... I can still nail Money, and about anything from The Wall or Animals note for note.:)

The Eagles. Really a lot of classic rock is really boring to me. Love me some Who, Zep, etc... but I find so much classic rock sounds so... self-indulgent?

It's interesting to see some of the bands folks have mentioned. There are quite a few bands I dislike listed, but I can really pinpoint what it is I don't like about them- Guns and Roses for example- I just don't like Axel's singing voice.

One band I see listed a few times is Pink Floyd- I didn't get them at all throughout my teens and the first few years of my twenties; then cliche as it may sound, I took some mind altering substances (the first an only
Time in my life) and saw laser Pink Floyd and I finally 'got' it. And henceforth I've been able to enjoy their music.

Pretty much anything that's churned on classic stations were all the nauseating hits bitd. Sure there's some better cuts on those albums, but that doesn't change the fact that they're still bland.

    Pearl Jam
    Led Zep
    Aerosmith's all been mentioned before.

To all of you listing The Who... fight me!
Haha, no I totally understand, but I love them.
Also, Steely Dan, Lou Reed, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Crosby Stills and Nash, and The Clash are all amazing. Y'all are crazy!
I like Jethro Tull against my own better judgement.
I still love Zeppelin, but I can't really listen to it anymore. Weird.

Famous jam bands come to mind now that I see so much dislike for Bruce...Grateful Dead, Phish, E Street Band. Talk about self-indulgent. You'd have to be on something to enjoy listening to their concert monotonous jam session songs that go on and on forever.

You can't compare the Grateful Dead to any of those other jam bands. They took it to a whole different level. It was not self-indulgent at all, it was audience-indulgent.

I think guys are just listing stuff that's popular but don't like anyways, usually because some 'big deal' over-exposure factor. I see this exercise more as what you'd like 'on paper' but end up not liking. I like Pink Floyd and the Beatles on paper, influencing stuff I do, and what have you, but they are overblown and overexposed, over-appreciated. But I still like them for myself, even when they go awry...

I like reggae/ska/rocksteady music. I should like brah stuff, modern stuff. I dont.
