The Doors are strictly for 14 year old who think Jim is deep, you're supposed to grow out of that phase as you get older. Thats said, I have come to appreciate some of Robbie's playing over the years. He's got his own thing going on.

I agree, despite my discursive defense of the Doors, Morrison could be just plain silly. Not always. His lyrics were often brilliant and full of imagery. But he had his head up his arse half the time too. But yeah Krieger, I've been listening to the live Roadhouse Blues and that guy has a style all his own. He rocks but he can also lay down some mean blues licks, and much more. Very versatile.

    Dave Matthews
    Mammas and the papas
    The Eagles
    The Stones

All of the fluffy, pop, bubblegum horse excrement called country nowadays... All of it!!!
Sweet home Alabama... Not Lynrd Skynrd, just that song. Oh, I hate that effing song!

Taking cover in a ditch that's behind a concrete wall now. Didn't get around to putting up top cover...

I'm right there with you on Phish. Technically proficient but no. Just no. One of the best disses I've ever heard of a band was a reviewer who characterized Phish as 'a band you have to make a conscious decision to like.' LOL.

There aren't enough psychedelics in the universe to make phish sound good.

I always thought of those bands as making "music for girls".

Their music is just so off key I simply cannot listen to it without getting the urge to turn it off.

It has been 3 months since my original post. I've decided I like all three bands even less now than I did back then.

I'm terms of influencing the punk movement in the U.K. I think the Stooges and New York Dolls really set the ball rolling by inspiring Glam Rock, Bowie and Malcom McClaren to set up his boy band : the punk Monkees aka Sex Pistols.

Their first tour directly led to the class of '77 - the adage is that everyone who saw them set up a band.

There is the famous case of their first gig in Manchester : the sparse attendees became The Smiths, The Buzzcocks etc.

Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Jethro Tull, Janis Joplin et al, Deep Purple, Rainbow, The Clash, Jefferson Airplane, ELO, Eagles, Journey, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Genesis, Yes, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam, Grateful Dead, Chicago, Moody Blues, Kansas, Bad Company, Smashing Pumpkins, The Band, Velvet Underground, Bob Marley, Sly and the Family Stone, Nirvana, Aerosmith, Creedence, RHCP, The Yardbirds, White Stripes

On just about all of these, I've really tried. I've spent time with their recordings, learned how to play their songs, come back and revisited them later. No dice. I just can't stand them.

    One for each generation:

Don't understand what people see in the Eagles.
Don't know why anyone would listen to Journey.
Can't see what the attraction of Van Halen is.
Radiohead is awful, and not just after OK Computer.

The Beatles...sorry, but the "mop-heads" just didn't excite me, although I DO like many of their songs.

Belle And Sebastian. We've been playing one of their songs & it's pretty good, so when they were supporting Radiohead in Glasgow last week I gave them a try, honest I did: so dull I just couldn't stand it. At least I know now for sure I'm not a Belle And Sebastian fan and never will be!
