    WOW!!

    That looks beautiful!

When we were at the shore last week we picked up some shells to try to do what you did here.... maybe a little experimenting will be in order..

    Great job!

    Thanks John.

Make sure the shells you pick from the shore are not to hard (killing the saw)

Since no-one can have too many unfinished guitars.. Here something that is going on on the sidelines. I never thought I would go for road worn or barncaster style build, but I think the broader community here infected me - Especially Nick with his Kaboooomcaster a while back.

Got the idea back in January when I saw this packaging material at the lumber yard. The very friendly staff didn't hesitate to give me the packaging which is about 3.7mm ply wood.

Excellent Helmut. I'm sure your version of a barncaster will have a nice precision to it.

Yes - this one will go by the code name Formaldehydecaster. No word is too long that you cannot add a "caster"

What about the nationality - The Russian Formaldehydecaster?

    :)
I am thinking if I put these cotton cable insulation over the shielded pickup cable and have some extra long fringes - would give it a nice touch!!!!

And no, still no Russian PIO cap :D

I've heard Russian caps give extra tone and character, the only issue is that you must find a way to fit them in a tele. russian_pio_capacitor_lot_of_30_nos_9_15665.jpg

Those are some really nice caps!!

I'm confident Helmut can get them into the Tele and still have it weight only 7 pounds! LOL

Nick these things would make a great trem stop in a stratocaster, just take the springs out and put these caps into a the rear route and screw everything tight

Let's not overdo it. I mean, I came around quite a bit with the plan of hiding good shielded cable under the cotton rag. But will there even be such thick cotton insulation? :D

I can't wait to see what you come up with Helmut. Remember, if you run low on cloth covered wire, PIO caps or vacuum tubes, just give me a call!

Hmm just a hair over 2 years later... Let’s put some logo on the headstock of the Walnut/Fir tele.

Still on the learning curve of the CNC stuff. The logo placement on the headstock looked perfect until it started cutting. Way too close too the nut. The “Custom” was supposed to go under the logo- but moving to the right somewhat saved the day.

The logo looks good and the placement also!!!
