a friend sent me a few pics of this tele and wants to know what it might be worth. the pics arent that good at all, and i know it is difficult to put a price on something without knowing all the details.
but if it is what he says it is, a 72 tele, what would the ranges be, like from bad shape to good shape. obviously it has been played and is not mint, but looks to be in pretty good condition. thanks for your help.

That's a nice example of an early 70's Tele - I'd say $3k-4k easy should it be all stock.
It has the right colour and contours plus a maple neck

I'd say that's a bit high... but looks-wise it ticks all the boxes and should it be on the lighter side of the weight spectrum I could see someone paying that.

6K is absolute top dollar... something Gruhn might charge with all accessories (case, strap, papers) and guaranteed authentication. In a real world 3K - 4K is much more realistic... even in pristine condition. Hard to tell from those pics (not enough of them) but it does look like a '72 should... the serial is about 800 digits off my own '72.

Keep in mind, these are going up in value very quickly. I was very surprised to see these double in value over the last 5 - 10 years.

its a nice guitar, thats for sure. but i wouldnt pay 6k for it. i think the guy is the original owner and he is letting the sentimental value clash with reality, and i understand that.
i was looking on reverb yesterday and saw a 72 tele in lake placid blue that was going for a little over 7k. crazy.
