Here's the next guitar. Plans redrawn from various sources and ready for templating.
Oooohhh, a Jag-ish build. And in the most sophisticated, professionalized, and successful guitar building programme this forum has ever seen!, WOW. Attention focused.
Looking forward to seeing how you fret from about #25 through #43!
Ha, I like to use the extended scale to inform where I place pickups... for some reason
But how do you get the fret onto the pickup cover? Can't wait to see that...
Not literally... just a guide
No frets on the pickups, using brown poplar, where will you cut corners next?
Rosewood made out of compressed roses.
Jeez! You guys have no vision.
I've also taken stock of my finishing colour, high gloss; the first batch didn't come out quite how I wanted the second batch are just right, pic below
What he said !
We been needing a new successful guitar building program President / Director.
Lots of upper management round here at The Unfinished Guitar Project Institute, though.
Ohhhh! Buuuttter Scooootch!......and cherry, yummy
Looking forward to watching whatever may happen. I like those colours.
I think my candy apple red joke was a bit abstract... finishing colour is undecided, although I do like the Johnny Marr Sherwood Green Jag.
Picked up some MDF today, creeping closer to the project start
Where can I apply? Hopefully it doesn't matter that I have little to no experience
They are good colours - candy apple red is on my list of potential guitar colours
I've made some adjustments to my drawings. I've decided to make the pickguard and control plates myself - this gives me more control locating everything accurately on my templates, I've also taken the liberty of adjusting the shape a touch. I'm still undecided on what bridge I will use - I'm not a fan of the mustang bridge, I'd like to use a roller style tunomatic - if I can find one in the UK. I haven't made accurate measurements of the trem, couldn't find anything online, so I'll wait until I buy one and retro fit it then... the end
Well look at them apples . . .
That's a nice drawing
Thanks Marty. Biding my time until the real work begins
How 'bout them apples?
And I do like the transparent MDF. Can't wait til it gets over here to the Newnited Stats.
And Mat, I have, in a bin somewhere waiting attention, a bracket for Jaguar roller pots. If you still are looking for dimensions, I'll dig it out, photograph it, and measure it for you.
Thanks for the kind offer Rick; initially I typed out a 'yes please if it's not too much trouble', but on reflection I think I will kindly decline for the following reasons:
- fabricating one myself gives me the flexibility to tweak the design myself to compensate for any design changes (or **** ups more likely)
- it's a new skill to add to the repertoire
- it will be cheaper
But yeah, thanks for the offer Rick, much appreciated!
