As far as I’m concerned anytime they cut you open is an event. Anything that has to do with your heart is an event. Sooooo, you’ve got a double whammy coming up. I know in the grand scheme of things it’s usually not something serious, just a simple routine procedure. But I’ll still be praying for you until you say it’s over and you’re fine. Then maybe pray a couple more days just to be sure. And if Toto’s Dad shows up at your house with his toolbox and some spare parts, just make sure they’re from AutoZone not Harbor Freight. Unless you want to save a few bucks

It is a good sign when it is time for a pacemaker battery. My dad has been going through this for about 15 years. They usually put in a new pacemaker with added features to help regulate the heart. He finally got a new heart valve and he is better than before he started using pacemakers.

He did get one with a battery recall which was a PIA, but otherwise, the pacemaker technology has been keeping up with the tiny heart component failures that my dad has been going through. Absolutely amazing technology. I got high blood pressure at the same age as my dad, so the heart doctor has been taking measurements of different parts of my heart for baseline comparison.

It actually is a significant event.

And to let you know William, I'm in the Angiogram club. I wasn't sedated, evidently the VA saved money on drugs, but I'm glad I was awake. I watched on a video monitor as the heart doctor snaked the catheter into the arteries. Absolutely fascinating. Great technology that has lengthened the lives of probably millions of people.

Maybe they can download your favourite songs to your pacemaker.
So your heart can beat in the rhythm of your favourite songs!

    Thoughts and prayers. Good luck!

Keep us posted and make sure everybody washes their hands .

When you come out, tell your wife that everything’s great and it’s a vastly improved model over the old one. Then just mention that this new one can be partially solar-charged and then quickly change the subject or nod off.

Then, this summer, every time you want to sit in the sun with a tumbler of brown liquor and your wife asks you what the hell you’re doing say “Just taking care of my heart baby, taking care of my heart.”

    She’ll feel guilty and say “oh , that’s right - I’m sorry !”

And you just say , “Don’t worry about it at all honey...oh - could I get a couple fresh cubes ? “ as you raise your glass...

Yeah...if I had to pick when this thing ran out of gas it wouldn't have been in the middle of a deadly flu epidemic...

And all that stuff about getting one over on the wife? I think you've been married long enough to know those women know every trick in the book by now. Nice try though!

Thanks for giggles and well wishes, Eskimo!:)

    Reminds me of the dad-joke:
Q: what's the difference between a Hippo and a Zippo?
A: the Zippo is a little lighter.

Yes...I'm pumping the low viscosity stuff myself. Because of Xarlto's discount program I'm getting $300 worth of medication for $10 every month. I'm sure that will change when I go on medicare...

Good luck with your own ticker, LF!
