I just received today from a Canadian source 3 book matched 1/4" tops, all Maple, the flamed one for an Alder Tele body, and 2 others for other projects. Because these chip so easily when you run them thru the jointer, I had to manually sand the edges using a sandpaper covered piece of granite attached at a right angle to a nice wide flat piece of alder. 2 of them are being glued up in jigs that I made earlier. Never tried this method before, so fingers crossed. I They're not pretty, but it looks like the doing what they're supposed to do. Thanks to those who replied to my other thread asking for help with this.

Alder Tele gets the flame top. Thickness is 1.89. I need to take .14 off the back.

Originally, I had planned on building one Tele and 2 original designs. After putting the quilted maple on this Alder original, I looked at the last book matched top, a beautiful maple burl. I wanted to use as much of that burl as I could to really showcase the grain. The other original design is is larger than the quilt top but still left quite a bit of unused burl. I laid my Tele template over it and saw that it uses about 25% more of the burl. So, it's going to be 2 Tele's and 1 original. I think that's more appropriate for this forum anyway.

The 2 Tele necks are in clamps getting the FB's glued, the 3rd is waiting for a truss rod.

Progress so far, still a long way to go. Building 3 at a time has its perks, but it also take a lot more time. Pics are kind of dark, sorry.....

They are great to deal with. I've bought from them a few times and I'm pleased big time. No affiliation just a satisfied customer.

Pickups arrived, EMG T system. I didn't want to route the cavities until I had them in hand and could check measurements. Meanwhile, I have been working on the neck, radiused, fretted and side dots in. Still need to level and dress frets. Both body and neck are finish-sanded to 400 grit. Need to apply finish, then assemble. Going to be using multiple coats of Odie's Oil on all.

Odie's oil applied to both body and neck. I let it soak in for about 3 hours before I started removing the excess and buffing it out. I think I like this Odie guy. Still need to do more buffing, but I think it's a keeper.

Odies oil looks intriguing - I wish it was easily available in the uk, it makes for a great finish from what I’ve seen in pics

That looks beautiful. Can you use Odie's over a stain? Seems a lot easier way to go rather than sprying, snading and buffing a clear finish.

Been waiting on a few last minute parts, but I have made some progress. Electrosocket jack cup and graphite nut still on the way. IMG_5822 2.jpg
