Not bought a guitar for 5 years and have no plans to change that any time soon, I have all the amps I need so no problem there and I'm happy with my pedalboard set up. I would say that as long as no one ( Electro Harmonix usually ) comes up with anything weird and must have then I'm good to go for a gear free year and shall spend my spare cash on vinyl instead.

    Guitar-wise I probably won't buy any. But I may build a couple.

Bet is off on other equipment.

My playing does improve every year, though.

There’s still plenty of time left in December to stock up.

I haven't bought a guitar during the last four years. I had one given to me a year or two ago, I don't know if that would count as a purchase though. I don't intend buying any more guitars ever, but like the movie says, never say never.

    Hi nubs,
I wish I could go in with you but I don't make promises I probably won't keep. I'm all in on the improve my playing part and I'm not specifically looking for gear. There's nothing I need. But I'm in guitar stores a lot and I never know when something will reach out and touch my soul. I'm also thinking about a small Yamaha amp I posted about not too long ago. And I don't have a PRS yet. And making promises has never been my strong suit. But I'm still all in on the improve my playing part. That's a promise.

I thought 2017 would be the no gear year for me and I ended up with 5 new amps, 4 new guitars and countless other guitar related things. I think I have a problem, time for the 12 step program.

Only plan now is to get some wood from an old (100+) hay barn on my brother's property that's falling in and about to be taken down and put together a Barncaster. I've got the neck, pickup, tuners so only need a few things...

    Otherwise, I'm in?

    Mmmmmmmm......sorry bro.
I am ok with it in principle but No promises.
I'll be 50 this summer and I am currently considering treating myself to a Les Paul junior.

My plans exactly! I want to become a better player. I already have the gear for that. Although I may order an amp before the first of the year and both amps i'm looking at have a lead time which will take me into the new year.

I'm in. 2018 will be the third consecutive year of no new guitars. I have everything I need and I'm good with that. I was researching heavily on P-90 guitars lately because I don't have one but I stepped away from the ledge. I came to the realization (somehow) that the chase would be better than the acquisition. I'm.......proud of myself?

2018 won't be a gear-free year for me. I have been planning an amp purchase for a while now. I thought I was going to pull the trigger last month, but other expenses (new tires, new washer/dryer) rudely pushed themselves to the head of the line. So I'm planning on new gear purchases in the coming year. Maybe 2019...

I’m in! I really need to. 2017 got a bit out of hand. I need to concentrate on practicing and getting out there *playing* some of this sweet, if idiosyncratic gear!
So will there be a thread to go to where we can all talk each other down when GAS rears it’s inevitable head?

Well, count me in (unless Epiphone comes out with a TV yellow Double cut LP P-90 Special for $99). I have held tough this year with no new pedals in 2017 from when I committed last winter here. I sold a guitar and gained a guitar this year. I will get one or two pedals in 2018 and then I'm set gear wise for hopefully a very long time.

So, what are we gonna call this exclusive club?

    The Guitar GAS Deniers?:D GGAsDE?

Edit: Hey, wait, is that a tuning?

That should be easy. Guitar Gas-X, or GGX for short. Per my previous post, however, I'm a skeptic. Word are cheap, and the truth won't be known until 2019.:eek::D
