I like that they've used the special config of the 250/500 pot. That's something I'd like to see how they did it because that is the #1 problem I've had with a neck humbucker. That 250K pot never works well for them. Digging in!

Really digging that I have a similar configuration in my CS macawber clone. Lovely telecaster.

I have an SH telemaster. It's a great gigging guitar. Does everything. I can only drool over this 51 and dream.

The common fix is to use a 500k pot and put a resistor on the bridge so it sees 250k

Probably a great instrument, but I just cannot get my head around building a nice guitar then scratching it up to make it look old.

For as many years as relics have been around and the vast amount of discussions about them I still can't believe theres anyone dense enough still around that questions them.
There are pink guitars, there are banana yellow guitars, there are relics. Quite simply if you don't like them don't buy them. Buy the pretty blue one or the traditional blond one with the bullet proof poly finish so that your guitar looks brand new forever. I never find my self wondering why someone preferred something that I dislike.

Would you buy a brand new 2019 Ford Mustang Premium that had been deliberately rolled, rammed or scratched just to make it look used?

Same stupid questions from people that can't get it through their thick heads. Would you play power chords on your 2019 Mustang? Yeah equally stupid question eh?
A car aint a guitar. I feel stupid having to explain it to you.
Having said that, I do buy brand new cars to drive them right in to the ground. So I guess I relic them naturally.

THAT's how you should relic a guitar as well.

I just bought a Masterbuilt relic nocaster several months ago. I'm almost 60 and gig once or twice a week. I don't have time to relic any guitar. I love the worn in feel that my relic has.
And no one lives long enough to relic a poly finish guitar.
So although I appreciate your need to dictate how all players should enjoy their guitars, I'll stick to my way and be quite happy. Cause I'm not trying to make you happy.

I really wasn't intending this thread to become an argument on why to relic a guitar. I like the blackguard in Nocaster blonde, humbucker in the neck, and the neck profile/radius/frets.

Would like to find a Custom Shop guitar with similar specs. Relic or not. Doesn't matter.

Sorry for my part in the thread hijack. That was just my frustration to seeing the same stupid posts "I don't understand how someone can like a banged up guitar", every time someone posts or mentions a relic guitar.
Personally I like both relic and non relic guitars and most colors. And I attribute about 5% weight relating to the finish whether to buy a guitar or not.
Concerning the relic job on that guitar in the link you posted, I like it better than the relic on my Masterbuilt Nocaster.

Yes totally agree. Everyone is entitled to it. It does get annoying in every relic thread seems to become that.

It cracks me up. I actually didn’t realize it was relic! Haha. Just loved the other specs.
