Having 18 of the 29 finishers eliminated down to 11 by the preliminary vote and the extra delay before the final vote kind of "let the air out" of the final vote. I think a lot of the membership may have lost interest by then. Voter turnout has been always been a low percentage of the TDPRI membership.

I had a clear favorite in one of the categories, so had made a mental note to vote.
(my favorite didn't quite win but wasn't too far either)

Possibly, but I think a bigger issue may be that voting
is a daunting task -- it takes a long time to review the
videos and especially the threads. I almost didn't
vote in the finals because of this.

I don't know if low voter turnout is really a problem,
but maybe the job of comparing builds would be easier
if each build thread had a final post showing the highlights
    of the build.

I would think that any interested party that has followed along for 2 months would have a favorite or two by the end without having to compare each one again.

I think that is a selfish thing to do.

Maybe next year. I wanna do a John Backlund-inspired Ming the Merciless Mayhem Machine.

 As soon as I figure out what I want to build next, I'll load up my stewmac cart with the necessary goodies. But, I'm not sure just what that's going to be yet. I've got several ideas kicking around right now... maybe that Jerry/Rosebud/Tiger sort of thing we briefly mentioned back in your challenge thread - I have been wanting to do one of those for a while now. Although a Duo Jet double cut is on my short list too, as is an SG junior. Decisions, decisions.

Oh ya!! You must be a Jetson's fan too :lol: I'm a big John Backlund fan - can't wait!

Except for this year's challenge build, I try to work in one Backlund-esk idea in each of my guitars.

Followed all the builds for two months? If you were able to
do this I salute you. I was barely able to follow a handful
    of builds.

I suspect that some people go to the last entry and see what progress has been made every once and a while to get a "snapshot" of what is going on.
