Recently traded for a MX11 serial number tele. Should be a 2011 to 12 from what I have read. Have also read that the serial number should be on back of headstock. Just wondering if it is normal for it to be on the front?

My 2009 MIM Standard tele had the serial number on the back of the headstock. I believe that was the first year for it.

I bought it new and I remember waiting becuause the 2008 models had the serial number on the front. They made several other changes too, bigger frets, tinted neck, I can't remember what else.

My 2007 has the SN on the front, just like the OP's example, but I think we already know that is before the change. I thought the change happened in 2008ish.

    Interesting. Is it a Standard?

Try sending the serial number to Fender to see what they say.

It's on the back of the headstock on my '11 MIM Cabronita.

Yeah just seems wierd to have it on front when every other one I have found online has it on the back. Afraid I had been had but why fake a mim so figured its just one of those things.

I'll echo those who recommend contacting Fender to see what they say. As far as I was aware Fender moved the serial number to the back of the headstock on MIMs in 2008.

It could be this was some kind of FSR (Factory Special Run) that used the old-style headstock decal for some reason - but Fender will know.

Everything looks legit to my eyes, not to mention the neck seems to be a one-piece quarter-sawn piece of maple, which is pretty desirable. How does it sound unplugged?

Its pretty resonant. This is my first "proper" tele. Did have one of the road worn customs but this is the first standard.
