    Stunning !

The geek in me would acquire some period correct strings as those in your case are from the 70's.

As found... That's what was in there when the original owner quit playing it.

Great information! Never new about the black or the blacklight. Such a cool guitar! Thanks for sharing it with us!

It’s a beautiful tele. I’d love to see her with a white guard too!

The other interesting thing is the neck. It may just be the pic, but that looks like an all-nitro coated neck, back of headstock looks as orange as front - which you expect will be. It may be about the time they were going poly I guess.

I believe the change to AUC (Aliphatic Urethane Coating) happened in 1968. One way to tell is to look at the headstock decal and whether or not it is on top of the clear or beneath it. AUC reportedly reacted poorly with the decals they were using at the time. Not sure why they didn't continue to put the decal on top of the clear, but I believe 1968 was the first year that they clear coated over the decals, hence the need to continue using lacquer on the front face of the headstock.

Beautiful! And it looks very much like the 67 Blue Ice Metallic Tele that I used to own. I posted an image of the color difference under the pick guard. Very much like yours.

Here is the thread that I started about that one. http://www.tdpri.com/threads/1967-blue-ice-metallic-tele.512203/
It was an amazing guitar. Very light and resonant. I sold it to Atoyboy Guitars early this year.

Wow that color and how it changes in different light is very cool, aside from the beautiful guitar.
Too much originality for me though, I couldn't handle the responsibility!

    Ha ha, yes they are!
Just out of interest: How do you know which color it is exactly? I mean, some colors look very much alike after all these years. I had to do a lot of research to find out what mine was. It didn't say, like some do in the bridge pick up cavity.

By examining the un-faded areas inside the guitar mostly, showing it to other friends who are very experienced with vintage guitars... that and an experienced eye! :)

Ha ha, well yes... that's what I did too.... But still it's funny how alike the unfaded areas of Firemist Silver and Blue Ice Metallic look in these pictures. But I'm sure that you would see a bigger difference if you have the guitar in your hand. Specially if you could compare both at the same time..

Blue Ice Metallic and Firemist Silver were very close to each other when new as well as after significant aging/yellowing. From the examples I've seen Blue Ice Metallic is a slightly darker shade of blue and consequently green much later. This suspicion is confirmed by at least one Refinish Specialist who has posted sample of each of the Fender Custom Colors. See Below:

Thanks! Still it's hard to really tell from pictures. Colors come out differently on every computer and from every camera. The Blue Ice looks darker here than mine was. But I also saw Firemist silver up close and that looked lighter than my Blue Ice.
